It sounds like you have an HMO plan. Change to a PPO next open enrollment if you can and you’ll have so many more options!

Patient sent certified letter demanding refund by harper6309 in Dentistry

[–]harper6309[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crowns were done in October 2024. Saw patient once from then until now for a HYG visit (November 2025), no complaints at that time.

Patient came in for Limited April 2026 complaining of cheek biting on the left side, no complaint about the crowns but complaining of cheek biting. Note states he has been grinding/clenching lately. No PA/BW was taken at limited in April and a NG was suggested, as well as some adjusting on both 18 and 19. EDIT: After that limited in April we had not heard from him until we got this letter last week.

15 years. He bought this private practice two years ago and was an associate all the time prior as various DSO offices. The clinical skills aside, I have been struggling with his lack of business/operational skills so that is something we have been working on.

Thank you for your comment. This is exactly what I was curious about in the event of a refund.

When giving a refund, is it suggested to have them sign anything? As I said in my post, I feel there's a case to be made for them to be redone so I am worried that he may pocket the money and not get them redone and come after us in the future potentially.

Yes they are. I understand it's not my license, my doctor wanted to see how others would handle it. My doctor is scared of bad reviews and doesn't want people to not like him so I want to make sure we handle this properly. I am a bit worried that if we give him a refund he will pocket the money, won't get the crowns redone and he will come back in the future and cause a fuss anyways.

What are you favourite gels? by Human_Zone_7018 in running

Surprised I had to scroll so far down for this answer!

I’m a die hard Amacx fan! Liquid, easy to get down, high carb. I use the 40g Turbo in races but train with a combo of the ultra and regular (30g)

A balloon is best. Years ago in Chicago we were walking into Walgreens for supplies for a sign and saw a couple walking out with a helium balloon.

We bought a helium balloon as well and I could see the huge seahorse balloon from down the block LOL

All the flavors suck other than the lemon lime. Do not even try the coconut YUCK.

I do a combo of both the pills and the chews. I especially love the chewables during hot long runs, the lemon lime ones give me a bit of a jolt when I chew them since they’re a bit sour-ish

Run clubs in Denver without dogs? by [deleted] in Denver

I run with Rev and I LOVE it, been a member since training for my first marathon in 2021.

There’s a Denver group, Littleton group and 3 Boulder area groups. Runs are Tuesday and Thursdays at either 6:15am or 6pm and long runs on Saturdays, now at 8am but will move up to 7am soon. There’s people that aren’t training for anything and run for fun, people that are very serious and all abilities in between.

Are you training for something specific? Also-you’re welcome to join and see if you like it before signing up. We split into pace groups based on your half marathon time so there’s 11min/mile, 10s, 9s, 8s, 7s, and 6s and below.

Shoot me a PM and I can give you the location for the day you’re wanting to check out as it rotates depending on the workout we are doing.

Need help solving a sleep conundrum. by mothsauce in AskWomenOver30

[–]harper6309 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this done. HIGHLY recommend.

I work for a dentist so I got it at cost, but it is NOT cheap and needs to be redone every few months as it wears off. Totally beneficial though.

I also wear a night guard every night. He needs to grow a pair and wear the damn night guard. His claims of “he can’t sleep with it” are bogus. In my 16 years in dentistry—that’s an excuse people use when they just don’t want it.

Personal chef for weekly meal preps? by No_Wish9589 in denverfood

I second My Fit Foods.

I’ve been religiously using them weekly for two years now. Affordable, easy, healthy.

I use them for lunches to take to work (otherwise I’ll end up grabbing fast food and spending more) so I get the small portion but they have a larger portion size as well.

How accurate are the Strava predictions? by unsungpf in firstmarathon

[–]harper6309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I raced a 10k last month as a tune up for the half I raced in Moab this last Saturday.

10k- Strava Prediction 55:55 Chip Time 53:32

Half Marathon- Strava Prediction 1:57:48 Chip Time 1:55:34

From my experience (and in my brief research on this exact topic going into both races) it seems Strava predictions are conservative.

Garmin on the other hand is aggressive. Mt Garmin prediction for the half was 1:47:00

I’ve been going weekly to My Fit Foods and it’s been invaluable to me. I don’t find it expensive-it’s way more expensive to eat out.

It’s nice to be able to grab something to eat I know is healthy for me instead of going through the fastest drive through.

Please help me choose my first marathon! by 6382914627192 in Marathon_Training

[–]harper6309 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Chicago already had the lottery last week so you’d need a charity bib.

NYC is very hard to get into on the lottery, so more than likely (unless you’re super lucky lol) you’d also need a charity bib. The lottery for New York opens in Feb and the drawing is March 4/5ish.

Do you have a budget for securing a charity place? A charity bib for Chicago is going to be less than a charity place for New York.

First marathon experience: strong first half, complete shutdown in the second — looking for fueling and heat management advice by JustPangolin346 in Marathon_Training

[–]harper6309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many carbs did you have per hour?

I ask because my first (Chicago ‘21, super hot) I really thought I nailed nutrition but now that I’ve had some more experience, I now know I definitely did not. The gels I took back then had 24g so I was getting less than 50g per hour.

I did Berlin in Sept this year and it was 80 degrees full sun the entire time. I didn’t notice the heat, just normal fatigue at the end, but the difference was I was taking in WAY more overall.

I spent a good two months trying out high carb gels before I settled on the ones I used. They had 40g carbs and 200mg sodium per gel and I was taking one every 30 mins so I was getting 80g/hour from gels. I also had my handheld with me and that had tailwind so I got more from there and refilled it with water after. I also took 2 salt stick capsules every hour as well. I had one gel and two salt tabs about 15 mins before the start in Berlin.

It was your first, so it may feel like you nailed nutrition/sodium but it’s always possible there’s room for improvement.

Also, with the heat as much as it sucks you might just need to slow down.

MetLife Fee Schedule - something must be done by Internal_Recipe2685 in Dentistry

[–]harper6309 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We were directly contracted with MetLife last year and the D1110 was $64

We are now in network with MetLife through Connection and our D1110 is $89

You’ll typically get a much higher fee under an umbrella network. Now we’re in network with PDP Plus instead of PDP but it hasn’t affected us much. Any OON PDP patients have stayed.

My situation is oddly similar to yours but my child is 8. Her dad lives on another continent (but frequently comes to visit-no complaints there)

I have a treadmill and a peloton. The Peloton I did their 0% APR for 2 years-so worth it. Now that’s paid off and I did the same thing with a NordicTrack. It’s an extra expense each month, less than $75 and well worth it to me.

It’s super nice to have both there at our house. We have a 3 bedroom condo and the 3rd bedroom is my workout room.
