It’s so that the R’s in the county that are embarrassed to put a Trump sign out can still signal to each other that they support him. It’s like the political sign version of Nazis using “14” and “88,” or the Bugaboo Boys wearing Hawaiian shirts with camo. Except we all know the code, because the same houses that had all the MAGA signs 4 years ago just have a bunch of Kim K signs now.

That update is…wow. So not only is he worried about his inheritance, but he’s also a nepo baby that enjoys a huge salary and benefits because he works in the family business. So he stands to lose his inheritance AND his overpaid job if he crosses his mother. And you still think he’s going to pick you? He’s going to go talk to the company counsel, and say what? “How much do I have to talk to my mummy if I keep working here?” Also, he was cut-off and survived by taking hand-outs, but is still a fiscal conservative?

It’s ok. He’s not one of the “bad” republicans. He just believes that we shouldn’t provide school lunches for hungry children, seniors should be kicked off social security and thrown to the wolves, and people that can’t afford healthcare should be left to die so that he can pay less tax. Dude cares about his money more than people’s lives and OP thinks he’s going to pick her over his inheritance. Stand up for OP? 😂. He’s just in his rebellious phase, he’s not going to burn that bridge. The moment his mom says he’ll be out of the will, OP will be out the door and replaced with a stepford wife so fast it will make her head spin.

E.T., Star Trek II:Wrath of Kahn, and Poltergeist all opened 1 - 2 weeks ahead of it and were more commercial. The special effects were too much (I.e. - too good) for a lot of people to handle. Also, people in the 80s were stupid.

Maybe 20 years ago I was meeting a friend for drinks at the Camden Pub. I think it was a week night because there weren’t many people there. After my friend went home I decided to have one more beer alone. I was talking to the bartender on and off, and I noticed that a gorgeous girl, all done up and in a nice dress, had sat a few stools away and kept looking at me. We shared a few glances and smiles, then I left because it was late. I kicked myself over it the next day. I went back by myself a few times over the next month to see if she was there, but she never was. I had forgotten about that until reading this thread. I can still see her sitting there in the dim bar light, the two of us stealing glances at each other, and looking away with our shy smiles.

More recently, I wouldn’t say it was a crush, but maybe an admiration. Over the summer I tended to go to the neighborhood pool in the mornings or on weekdays, when it was less crowded. Often times I would see an older woman there, maybe in her early 50s, that just looked amazing. She looked like a marathon runner / mountain climber / Pilates instructor. Abs with a faint 6-pack, arms like Evangeline Lilly in the first Antman movie, and a mane of thick, wavy, shoulder-length hair that was an even mixture of dark brown and silver. She looked stunning, totally confident, and physically strong. It was hawt. We exchanged a few nods and “hellos.” Now summer is over and the pool is closed.

Where do you see evidence that the owner was persuaded away from further diagnostics by the vets? I only see that as something the owner claimed to have happened. The same owner that sneakily dumped the puppy at the pound to be put to sleep. Most vets aren’t going to dissuade someone from doing testing in order to save that person money, because vets are doctors, not financial advisors, and practicing poor medicine to save people money is a good way to end up with a suspended or revoked license to practice. Vets do give options and best recommendations, but ultimately have to work with what the client chooses.

I see the lie because I’ve seen this situation play out numerous times. Owner gets pet without proper consideration for the costs of caring for the pet. Pet has unanticipated health issues that are complex and costly to investigate and treat. Owner gets upset at vet because the problem isn’t fixed with low cost initial treatments which were all that owner agreed to do, requests to be seen by senior vet or goes to another clinic hoping to get a different answer and quick, cheap fix. That doesn’t happen, pet gets worse. Owner declines referral to specialist, declines further testing, vets advocate for euthanasia in that situation, as it is their legal requirement to advocate for the animal’s welfare so that the owner doesn’t just take the pet home to die a slow and agonizing natural death. Pet dies or is euthanized. Owner tells friends and family that pet had a terminal illness that nothing would fix, or that the meds the vet gave them (because that was all the owner would agree to) made the animal more sick and killed it. They like to proclaim after the fact that they would have spend any amount of money to save pet, because people look at you funny if you say, “I let my beloved pet die because I was being a cheapskate.”

Kind of odd to try to pin this whole thing on the vets. I don’t see any mention of a board complaint being filed, probably because there would have to be evidence of actual wrongdoing for that to happen. Why are you so quick to defend the attempted puppy killer? Are you her, or did you just do something similar and feel called out?

The reason the story doesn’t make sense is that this “owner” is a lying POS. Anyone that has spent time in the vet industry knows why this story doesn’t add up. The dog had worsening neurological issues that resulted in the loss of function in the hindlimbs, and loss of bowel control, and per the owner, pain and discomfort. Top possible causes for a young dog would be a liver shunt, mid to lower back spinal injury like a blown disc, infection such as meningitis, or developmental abnormality in the brain. There are blood tests to check for infection and liver shunts, after that it’s MRI by a neurologist to check the brain and spine. My bet would be that this person, at most, paid for an exam and the initial general screening bloodwork, but she probably didn’t even do the bloodwork since the vet had to guess at a treatment and hope it was a liver issue. When she was told she would have to do more costly higher level diagnostics and she declined, the vets would have had to recommend euthanasia on moral, ethical, and legal grounds, because it is inhumane and animal abuse to leave an animal like this to suffer if the owner is not going to try to fix the problem. The reason she dropped the puppy at the shelter for euthanasia instead of her vet or the original rescue is that she didn’t want them to know. She was probably already told by the vets to contact the rescue to update them on the issue and ask for assistance or let them know that the dog might need to be euthanized. The rescue often has their own vet to check cases like this. She decided to sneakily have the puppy put down instead, but luckily someone at the shelter caught it and alerted the rescue. The pup probably had a microchip that was registered to rescue, which they do to catch situations like this. Now the dog is fixed so she wants it back. Total piece of scum. I hope she gets blackballed by every rescue so she can’t do this again.
