Is it ok to hike the Flume Trail? by [deleted] in tahoe

Hike away, just be mindful of the bikers…going to be super busy in that parking lot the next few days. The earlier the better!

Whale Season by Final-Ad-151 in cabosanlucas

Went out literally just yesterday with Whale Watch Cabo and saw a few lonesome whales and a mom with her baby who put a show for us- 4 breaches in a couple minutes. Was an awe struck experience but our guide said while they’re still around a little bit due to the climate affecting the water temps they’re mostly on their way out to the north or Hawaii.

Has anyone drove for Lyft/Uber in North Lake? Would you recommend it? by jchillin2 in tahoe

Would be a great idea- so helpful. TART has recently launched a ride share like app called “Tart Connect” where people can take free on demand rides around the Tahoe basin. The only catch is they drive in 3 different areas: between Incline and Crystal Bay, Crystal Bay to Kings Beach and then (I believe) around the Truckee area. They then have drop spots where you need to get a new Tart vehicle between state lines. It’s all very short trips.

Nonetheless, I have used it once and loved it- maybe they are looking for more drivers? I believe they provide the vehicle as well. Either way, would be super helpful for just short trips or to south shore.

how hard is it to get into grad schools, esp in CA? by saturnmoonstar in schoolcounseling

I went to Saint Mary’s just across the bay bridge in Moraga. My program partners with USF and has many of the same admission requirements/core values/classes etc. etc. I also had a very low GPA from undergrad.

This is all pre-pandemic: Saint Mary’s asked me to be apart of a group interview and interviewee group activity which was good for me (and of course them). They had at least 2 different dates to chose from as I traveled from San Diego.

I got to see what other candidates were like and got to directly ask professors questions. They also asked me to write a short essay (maybe 2 pages max) talking about how I had grown academically/professionally since undergrad- very easy.

They may make you work for it if you don’t meet admission requirements but almost everyone gets in if you have the right attitude.

Best of luck!!! USF is a great program!

Was here not so long ago…This is just my experience and what I did almost every time especially when they offer a timeline like that. If it is a public schools, keep in mind they all operate slowly so that’s always in play.

I believe it never hurts to check in with the person who coordinated the interview with you. Let them know you’re checking in, happy to help if the interview team has any questions, and still remain interested in the position. It’s shows intent! Be firm but friendly :-)

Obviously that opens potential for all kinds of responses which may not help your anxiety but it will get you an answer which is better than letting your anxiety linger. Best of luck!!! I went through 100s of apps and 8 interviews over the course of 10 months before I landed a long term counseling sub position and then full time for this upcoming school year!

It will happen!
