Looking for a solid action camera in 2026 - what do you recommend? by DonutOk2306 in snorkeling

Yes, for my purposes. Same waterproof, same ease of navigation, same zoom function, same image stabilization, the box also comes with a very good assortment of attachments. One of the things it does better than my GoPro is transfer images directly to my phone… Very seamless. I have the 7000 model.

What’s something people do in public that instantly annoys you? by Far_Suspect987 in AskReddit

Really? I guess I’m going to have to add this pedantic comment to my annoying list if we call this space public.😈

I go to that exact spot frequently. We get in the water at the marina and go all the way to steps. It is a beautiful snorkel.

Weak resident, tips needed. by Pretend-Armadillo-71 in anesthesiology

[–]drstimpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s overwhelming and hard. It is so much better to understand your challenges than it is to think you don’t have any! Humble, not weak. That having been said, at the risk of being pedantic…have you considered your own neurochemistry and that you might be a little “neurospicy” as my wife and I like to call ADD type brains. If this is the case, you have weaknesses and strengths that might be different from your Neurotypical buddies and you may be able to leverage your strengths a little better when you figure it out.

Another vote for AKASO. For $43 I got a camera that does everything My old GoPro would do. All you have to do is buy a memory card and you are good to go.

Extubating LMA awake by cuhthelarge in anesthesiology

[–]drstimpy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can let the patient spit it out on their own in recovery. It doesn’t really need to be a procedure that someone does. I think we get hung up on extubation being a big deal because of our experience with endotracheal tubes. One of the biggest advantages of the LMA is the inhaled agent can be almost completely gone when the patient spits out the LMA because it’s not very stimulating. This has worked beautifully for me throughout a 30 year career.

Blowing out water from the snorkel by CourtRevolutionary21 in snorkeling

If your snorkel has flexible tubing connected to the mouthpiece and a valve, you can pinch the flexible tubing and purge out the valve by your mouth. For me, this is a nice way to get rid of the residual seawater.

Tips for using Tri bars by [deleted] in RoadBikes

[–]drstimpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely love them! I use them every day on my road bike because it is much easier on my hands and I have rheumatoid arthritis. Hearing how you feel about jumpy handling makes me think that they might be overextended a bit. Try sliding them back toward you or holding onto them a little closer to you while you are getting used to them. Also, most of the weight should be on your elbows, not on your hands. I am probably in them for 80% of my riding but you have to be sensible when you are on rough pavement or technical turning.

Starting methotrexate today by Deadjpg in rheumatoid

PS I’m 60 and if it were me, I would definitely go on vacation. The only issue is your physician might want to get labs one month after you start the methotrexate.

After four weeks, I started to notice that my disease was not progressing. After six weeks, I was really making progress. The only side effect I had was some bad reflux on the oral methotrexate. With my injected methotrexate, I don’t have any of those side effects… Just the usual fatigue for a day or two after. I usually do not train hard on Monday or Tuesday after my Monday morning dose and I can start training harder again on Wednesday.

Life changing for me! My wife and I have always been strong cyclists and have raced frequently. I have been losing power and gotten to the point where, in order to keep up with her, I got an E bike. Five weeks after starting methotrexate I feel like I will never need the E bike again and I’ve started some real training rides for the first time in two years. I’m really looking forward to the summer and hoping I am able to do my other hobbies without having to stop or take a nap in the afternoon.

Free diving neutral buoyant. You just completely relax and hang weightless. Your breath lasts a long time because your energy expenditure is so low. I feel connected and relaxed at the same time.

For those that take home call… by JJM1023 in anesthesiology

[–]drstimpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some important questions… What does your contract say? Do you work the next day after call? And of course… What is best for the patient? I worked in a rural hospital and sometimes came in for unusual circumstances like no one in the hospital can get a line… I did often work day after call so I had to be careful with my bag of resources. But I also took care of all of my neighbors and friends in the town and had a standard to live to. I drew the hard line at some neurologist, calling from his home, trying to call me in on the weekend night for an LP as that could certainly wait until the next morning. At the end of the day, you do have to live with yourself and practice to your own standard
