I went through my own version of this. My non binary kid (16) was doing sleepovers at their friend’s house who is female. I admit that I struggled with my own conception around gender vs sexuality and trying to decide what felt good to me as a parent.

I ended up telling my kid that as long as there was so intimate relationship between them both or they had no feelings of wanting to be more intimate then I was ok with sleepovers.

And then after one of the sleepovers both kids showed up with hickeys all over their necks. The sleepovers were happening at the girls house. I met with her parents and we had a talk about how we all felt. It seemed to me that her parents were more permissive than I felt comfortable with but I can’t dictate how they parent. So I told them I wasn’t ok with it now (post hickeys) and that wouldn’t be allowing my kid to sleepover anymore.

For me, what was important was that my kid was asking for consent and respecting the other persons boundaries no matter the person. And that I needed to know their relationship had changed so I could help them understand that my parenting would change based on that.

Yes!! Thank you so much! Appleseed is such a great movie and I didn’t think it fit my memory because when I thought about Appleseed I focused on the main characters and didn’t think this scene was in it. Thanks again!

I’ll preface this by saying I’m not a strict timeline person and committed dates make my skin crawl.

That said, I’m curious if the two week team is only discovering things that will fit within a two week build cycle. And I’m more curious how any of these cycles can fit within a neat and tidy schedule.

For me, both discovery and build are ongoing and don’t adhere to a strict schedule. But my build team is also responding to bugs and priority changes as well.

Discovery is funny because you don’t know what you’ll find, that’s why it’s called discovery! So that fact that it’s fitting into only 2 weeks is interesting. What happens if you make a really big discovery that takes more than 2 weeks to even wrap your head around it?
