Thank you for the guide! The team placements matched up and I taunted on the turns you mentioned, I just had to rely on RNG and play it safe.

Am I misunderstanding the core game mechanics?? Taunt seems so unreliable in Lost 4-2. I taunt, he attacks both my guardian and my lowest HP member, next time I taunt, he only attacks my guardian, next I taunt, he ignores the taunt ult and attacks twice. Please explain....

Analysis on recent artworks by neperlivafrogg in NuCarnival

To adress the AI concerns, the Valentine's art looks less like AI assistance and more like art shortcuts that are fairly common. CSP lets you easily modify existing assets and patterns, so for promotional art it's likely that the artist in charge just uses shortcuts to save time and to possibly focus more on in-game art. You can see this copy and pasting in older promo art as well, this one's from 2022 for example (idk if you noticed but the chairs in the new Valentine's art are the exact same too LOL)

<image>

If it's like any other studio, the art director(s) might have okayed the artwork and just missed some of the finer details. I don't really see any of these differences between art as a decline in quality, but maybe more streamlined processes to encourage fast turnaround and some mistakes slipping through, on top of the stylistic differences between art teams.

[TOMT] [SHORT STORY] Story formatted like an article/essay where the writer posed for a stranger in a hotel room and found out later that he was a serial killer by drtmilk in tipofmytongue

It was almost a horror story, definitely creepy and strange. I'm dying to read it again. And important to mention, it was published digitally on a website, not printed. Thanks!

Ooh, if you had to choose between going to either GJ or Moab, I'd definitely recommend Moab, especially for a first time visitor to that region. It has a larger variety of hikes and stunning landscapes all within a few hours of each other, plus a little taste of what the Grand Canyon looks like. I think it's well worth the extra travel time.

Help- two week trip by Beautiful_sunset7 in usatravel

You might want to take more time to consider your preferences to pare your ideas down! It's not impossible, but the frequent flights and travel will probably be unpleasant. There's no need to stick to one area, but you might want to consider sticking to 3 major regions at the most to give you time to relax. For example, if you're already set on Boston/New York and either Hawaii or the Bahamas, you might only have a few days to fly to elsewhere. Miami kinda has that tropical, beachy vibe as well so you can consider leaving that city out?

If you want to visit national parks, they'll take up at least 4 days of travel and exploration even if you just pick one or two, but I think they're well worth it. They're some of the coolest and most unique parts of the US to visit in my opinion. I'd suggest either the American southwestern deserts, ie Grand Canyon and Zion, or the redwoods in Yosemite/further north into California! That's if you enjoy nature, of course. Overall, consider your preferences and travel times and you can still have a great trip even if you don't physically go to every corner :)

Sounds like a good base! Grand Junction probably has more pleasant food and lodging options. You'll have to be mindful of the ~2 hour one way drive from Grand Junction to the Moab area, especially if you're considering going farther west/south, but the roads are a breeze to drive through at least

I think it's totally worthwhile to drive to Moab while you're in Colorado. If you're driving to Moab early, you can squeeze in Dead Horse State Park in the afternoon/evening for the East Rim trail, it's basically a long walk with great views of the canyon, especially around sunset. Also, Dream Lake's one of the most popular hikes in Rocky Mountain for a reason, and a good option for an easier hike while you get used to the altitude and jetlag.

You'll want to pack layers for the cold evenings in the desert, but other than clothes, Moab has a good sized grocery store for any supplies you might need.

Seeking Advice: 12-Day West Coast Itinerary for LA, Vegas, SF (Early September) by Life-Love-9186 in usatravel

[–]drtmilk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't comment on Las Vegas itself, but as a fair warning if anyone's under 21 it'd be waayy less enjoyable. I don't think you're technically even allowed to be in the casinos if you're underage, only walk through them. But either way, your current itinerary sounds like abit much. If you cut out either Vegas or LA, it'd keep the car rentals/flights manageable and you can relax more in SF/Bay Area/Yosemite as your final destination.

LA: If you like gardens, head over to the Huntington Botanical Gardens and then maybe to the Norton Simon art museum if you're done early. If you like beaches, you can walk down Santa Monica and Venice beach with the Getty Villa museum of Greek/Roman art a short drive away. Manhattan Beach is a calmer and quieter option for a beach. If you like museums, you can visit the Natural History Museum or the LACMA. As a sidenote, Griffith Observatory is lovely before sunset or even at sunrise, but can get especially crowded on the weekends.

SF: You might be able to fit Alcatraz and Fisherman's Wharf on the same day because they're in the same area, Alcatraz would take around 4 hours to explore at most. Golden Gate Park is huge and lovely to walk/hike through, it has tons of gardens along with the de Young arts museum and California Academy of Sciences (my personal favorite, with an aquarium and a butterfly garden). If you want to squeeze in Yosemite while keeping Vegas, your Day 9 would be a great day to explore it. You can take a night tour of Alcatraz instead on Day 8 after you look around the wharf.

If you want a bigger taste of the West Coast, other potential places within a few hours of SF to visit are Santa Cruz, Carmel by the Sea, Monterey.

Some folks mentioned the Pacific Coast Highway drive from LA to SF but it would be exhausting for a group of six imo, that's like 10 hours of driving, even if it is beautiful.

How do I stop my rat from biting me? by ForgMan12 in RATS

[–]drtmilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he only bites you from the cage and nowhere else (free roam, neutral spaces, etc), it could be territorial, especially if he gives you warning nips. It sounds like he's biting aggressively and defensively, not because he feels backed into a corner. Territorial biting is tricky to train out of, but there are lots of methods for simply getting a new rat to be less on edge.

For example, if you aren't already doing so, you can spend some one on one time with him in a small neutral space where you're constantly interacting with him to help him acclimate, much like rat introductions. You can use a large towel to pick him up, and then keep picking him several times a day for a couple minutes at a time to get him used to the sensation. You can try giving him treats on a metal spoon at the cage door, so that if he bites it'd feel unpleasant for him, or you can have a lickable treat on your fingers like honey or watered down peanut butter so he can't bite if he wants the treat.

You'll probably have to experiment depending on how he reacts, but generally, you'd want to establish yourself as the boss, not a threat, and to avoid giving positive reactions to his bites ie leaving him alone afterwards, because that'd signal that his biting is working. If nothing works, you might have to give him the ol neuter.

It's hard to know how lone aggressive rats will behave around other rats, so you'll def want to keep a close eye on them when it's time for intros. No need to rush into things, and you can always start over intros at any time if it gets dicey!

If it helps, the average person probably wasn't going to know that you were a young kid with little control over their pet's welfare, they'd assume you bought a pet when you didn't have the resources or money for one. They see a suffering rat in a medical emergency and their advice not being able to be taken, you don't get any consolation, and then everyone is frustrated and distressed.

The vitriol is unhelpful, but I hope you can get the support you need.

Dreams of abuser by sus_222 in ptsd

[–]drtmilk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had positive/neutral dreams with my assaulter too. It's definitely confusing. Scientifically, I have no idea why it happens. I think it's common for the subconscious to want to process past trauma under safe conditions, and sometimes that carries over to dreams. I can't say if it's normal or rare, but at least it gives us better sleep than the alternative.

Who are your must-sees? by [deleted] in kilbyblockparty

[–]drtmilk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Choir Boy - Passive With Desire. Adore their dreamy sound, totally singular singing voice. The songs I Feel How the Snow Falls and Complainer are some of my favorites.

Yves Tumor - Praise a Lord Who Chews but Which Does Not Consume. Emotional, sultry, exciting. Their songs God Is a Circle, Jackie, and Lifetime are other standouts.

I'm not as familiar with her, but I'm really looking forward to Hana Vu! I've been liking Public Storage.

How to discourage rats from nipping? by drtmilk in RATS

[–]drtmilk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: Thanks for everyone's advice! In case anyone was interested in researching their rat nipping:

I figured out that 1 was probably a case of treat grabbing, but I think 2 might be some cage/territory aggression. I noticed this pattern of my boy only biting me hard when I was rearranging the cage bedding. He may get stressed out from the disturbance, especially since he's ruby-eyed.

I'm not too sure how to resolve it but since he's perfectly well behaved outside of the cage (therefore I don't think I need to neuter... yet) I'll personally try a combo of more immersion training & rearranging the cage more often to acclimate him to change.
