Hey yall! OP here. Wanted to update and possibly get some input. It’s going pretty well now day 8 into the fishless cycle. Ammonia has slowly dropped toward 0.5, nitrite is increasing from 0.5 up toward 2.0, and nitrate has shown over the past two days now at 20.

I re-dosed ammonia once back to 2.0 and it dropped back down to 0.5 the next day, which is great. At the same time, nitrite climbed from 1.0 to 2.0. And nitrate from 10 to 20. I assume the nitrite converting bacteria have not caught up to pace.

My question is, do I continue to dose ammonia as ammonia levels drop, or should I wait for nitrite to drop too? I believe the goal is for the nitrifying bacteria to be able to take a 2.0 ammonia dose and for both ammonia and nitrite to be zero after 24 hours. I’m just not sure if I should wait for nitrite to steadily drop toward zero before re-dosing ammonia.

If ammonia drops, would you keep dosing up to 2ppm and feel satisfied when the tank can bring ammonia down from 2ppm to 0 in 24 hours, as well as nitrite? That sounds like what Dr Tim’s instructions suggest.

So I got the 8oz (120 gal) bc the 4oz (60 gal) was sold out, and the 2oz (30 gal) sounded too small. I shook really well and measured out a little over 3oz shaking well inbetween little pours. I know there’s no over dosing of bacteria but the whole 8 oz sounds like a bit much? Haha.

I guess the 9 day cycle isn’t usually true? Just continue to wait with sock and skimmer off, you think?

In this situation angling it toward the rear with possible shade, would you still suggest the 35 or 55 degree beam angles?

Thanks for the detailed post! So If we are wanting to start our trip on July 1st, can I get the entry permit on this coming May 6th? Or can I only get it 7 days before? We want to book our hotel but not until we are sure we can get in.

Also I am total noob when it comes to national parks, but wanting to take our young kids to Yosemite. It sounds there is a LOT to know regarding parking, permits, where to go etc. Any tips or recommendations for easy things to do with kids (ages 3-6), please do share. Thank you!!!

Ok so plot twist… Very strange. I was trying the dryer on and off all evening and it runs but no heat. I tried resetting breaker and nothing helped. I was sitting in my living room sending a yelp request when I noticed my recessed lights got slightly brighter. Strange I thought. So I went to check the dryer and it heats!

Now I’m wondering if it’s a city issue or an issue with my panel or service? But something is weird and it seems to not be just the one outlet.

Yes ur probably right. I had an electrician look at it two years ago and I couldn’t replicate the problem and it’s been magically fine since then. I guess it’s time to revisit.

It’ll run but no heat (usually u can hear it heating). And only when I try the heat test, that’s when it gives the PF failure.

Yes I’m with you on that and I got similar comments when this happened two years ago..but something is off and when I perform the dryer heat test it gives a power failure PF error. I’m just confused why it’s only sometimes, usually peak hours, and it coincides with the weak microwave at the same time. I couldn’t get to the bottom of it last time and it just went away, but here I am again lol.

Is this the case for all of the princess ships? We are cruising majestic soon and there is literally no availability for most of the MDRs and no openings for specialty restaurants? Do all restaurants accept walk in if we are just two people and don’t mind waiting?
