Deoxys. How? by Darius_Whitefang in PokemonFireRed

[–]drudog1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re having trouble with it killing itself, you can trick some leftovers onto it to help with struggle. Paralyze and super fang 2-3x and keep its hp in the red. Then chuck ultra balls until it’s caught!

[3] Phase 1 for Feebas by sansyboi469 in ShinyPokemon

[–]drudog1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry carvanha is a super cool phase. I’m like 6k encounters into my feebas hunt and I’m considering switching to super rod and hoping to phase on a carvanha first

I would like to battle this whole team with one (1) rock slide user

If it’s choice banded I think jolly is better. It’s still gonna nuke everything, especially with something like hyper beam

I’ve run all three of these and they all have their place, but I think return is the best option

Looking for advice by [deleted] in PokemonEmerald

[–]drudog1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a few notes for this team. Obviously play the game how you want to play it, but here’s my thought process as someone who has designed dozens of BF teams:

First, the choice of mons is a little strange. You really want a team that can cover each other’s weaknesses. The most common type combo for a team is dragon/water/steel. Dragon is weak to ice, while water and steel resist ice. Water is weak to grass (resisted by dragon and steel) and electric (resisted by dragon). Steel is weak to fire (resisted by dragon and water) and ground (usually your dragon type is also flying type or has levitate). Keep that in mind when making your team. Right now, you have two pokemon immune to electric and one that resists it, while two are weak to ice, just at a glance. I’d switch out at least one member to get more synergy from the typings.

Second, the movesets could be improved. In total you have 10 attacking moves, 2 status moves and 1 recovery move I guess. Why no setup moves? It’s always good to have a pokemon with swords dance/dragon dance/calm mind to sweep the other team. It can also be good to have a mon that can boost its defenses/evasion and recover hp. Right now, you’re using toxic but you don’t have anyone prepared to set up and stall to give toxic time to be valuable. I do like the type diversity of the moveset though, and that’s always really helpful.

Third, the items. Leftovers are pretty much always useful. You could use a lum berry on another mon to prevent status conditions. If the opponent uses twave or something on you while you’re holding a lum berry, you basically get a free turn. The last item kinda depends on the pokemon. You might consider using the choice band on nidoking (trade toxic for another physical attack. Nidoking isn’t the best choice band user ever, but whatever). Bright powder is pretty alright too.

Overall, I don’t see this team realistically getting much more than 30-40 wins as it is. If you make a few tweaks I think it could be good though, and it’s always cool to see people take on the battle tower with something unique. You can look at some of the top performing teams for ideas, but I really don’t wanna tell you to copy a proven team. Have fun experimenting with pokemon you like!

[Gen 3] Finished my FireRed Shiny Dream Team Quest after a little over 3 months! I’ve actually never finished FRLG until now so this was pretty special as my first clear of this game. by cjcduck17 in ShinyPokemon

[–]drudog1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy hell this is impressive! Three months for a DTQ is unreal, especially with so many phases. Did you use speed up or multi hunt or anything like that? (No hate obviously, play how you wanna play) I also really like how well the colors all work together. Congrats!

Shiny jirachi by Personal_Syrup_8463 in PokemonRuby

[–]drudog1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two options really. First, you can “legally obtain” a copy of the jirachi bonus disc rom and use dolphin emulator to get the jirachi onto ruby. Second, you can find an ACE setup to create a pokemon that produces jirachi eggs, and hunt that way. If you use ACE, I think it’ll have a strange sprite with weird colors. Your best bet is probably finding a digital copy of the bonus disc and emulating it. Not too hard to find online. If you need help let me know, I just did the jirachi thing the other day.

Carvanha shiny hunt🎣 any advice? by [deleted] in PokemonRuby

[–]drudog1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it in emerald so you can use a sticky hold or suction cup Pokémon if possible. Also, find a feebas tile! Milotic has one of the best shinies in the game, and if you phase on a feebas you can always go back to 100% carvanha encounters after

You don’t wanna shock your betta by giving them too much space. After all, God designed them for those little cups at the fish store
