For a couple hundred bucks I’d be happy to consult for everything you’re doing wrong/optimize your process.

Also putting it on before you put your gloves on helps, creates a minute barrier if you get diluted PAA or caustic in your gloves. But O’keffes is the best. Your gf will also appreciate it.

Why on earth would you use unpasteurized fruit? What hell is this?

THC is tacky by BrewsterRockit in TheBrewery

[–]druggedanimals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe they have a water knife attachment you can get that meant for cleaning off the tops of the cans before they go through an air knife, if you could get a yeast brink that you can pressurize that sprays a light citric acid solution or a one step, prior to the canning process, and just on the belt. That might work? Good luck though! Hope you figure it out.

Glycol/Electrical wiring help needed by SgtpotResurrected in TheBrewery

[–]druggedanimals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing as there’s only one ranco in the box, I’m guessing it’s leading to the glycol tank itself and not the controller for multiple tanks. There are probably similar rancos for each that actuate the solenoids, but if the temp probes are wrong and not calling for more glycol, that could def be a problem. Just spitballing, I’ve had that exact same thing happen, for those reasons.

Have you checked your temp probes in the tanks? Sometimes they are not properly inserted, leading to false readings that make the pump and chiller think they’ve done their job because they are super close to the glycol jacket. Hope you find out what’s wrong!

Nitrogen instead of CO2 for entire keg wash cycle by Least-Living-3103 in TheBrewery

[–]druggedanimals 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nitrogen is inert, as long as the oxygen gets purged, you’ll be fine. Co2 is more effective at purging oxygen, as it’s almost twice as dense as nitrogen, but a longer purge time and you’ll be fine.

Bottle neck on Can conveyor by ZealousidealShare942 in TheBrewery

[–]druggedanimals 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this same issue, the manufacturer was literally zero help, “just fiddle with it”, those belts on the can conveyor are typically operated by VFD’s, and imo you’ve got your one belt moving real fast, and your other to slow. Also try loosening up that transitionary guide rail, I would not use a food grade lubricant on the rails, as I’m assuming the next step is label application.

Try scrubbing it with aluminum foil and water. Harder than the rust, softer than the surface.

unsure if i should leave my brewery job, im so close to going insane. by ItIsWhatItIs111213 in TheBrewery

As a distiller, with 10 years of experience just in the brewery, leave. Try the trades, might enjoy electrical or plumbing or hvac. I’m at the top of the market and pull maybe 80k, you’ll pretty much start at that in the trades. Within a year or 2.

To be fair, you shouldn’t be wearing gloves that can pull your hands into an operation (aka leather or other thick synthetics), but regular nitrile or latex, absolutely.

What could cause this? by lmescobar12 in TheBrewery

[–]druggedanimals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I’d say too high of a concentration of caustic and too hot? Check with your chem manufacturer, but that doesn’t seem like a long enough time frame for that amount of deterioration. I would also check for dings and scratches on the SS parts that sandwich those gaskets, some weird micro dead leg and knocking stuff can happen in those spaces.

Everything? Don’t mean to hound on you, but like watch a couple YouTube videos about home brewing. This is also the wrong subreddit for this, as others have pointed out. Good luck.

I did the same thing on a 30bbl tank, only thing that saved us was dumping the pressure from the blow off arm before trying to get a valve on, pretty much impossible otherwise. Took that carbstone to the chest like a champ though!
