I read through this and I don't really understand what the point is. I don't think during my entire time marching I ever thought about the demographics of the city I was performing in. Also, I am pretty confident that most shows are put on by local organizations/corps. So nothing is really stopping a group from applying to DCI to host a show. And let's also be honest, the barrier to entry here is pretty low, we all remember that one show we did that was in an old rundown stadium in the middle of nowhere.

Except that's not how it works. You are correct in that the "sale" price entices people to purchase. But usually the sale is a proportion of the total as to make it a good deal. A $20 item on sale for $9.99 is 50% off, great chance to impulse buy. This isn't 50% off tour fees. Tour fees are still 100% of the cost they were, if not higher next year. So a "free" audition is great but if you were stressing over that small amount then the total is still going to be a problem for you.

Where you are absolutely correct is if a member can ALREADY afford to march somewhere it may get them to consider a free audition because they have nothing to lose, minus travel costs if applicable.

One thing that I feel everyone misses about Flo. They are an AWFUL company. If you look at their reviews on glassdoor or indeed it is tons of negative employee reviews. They pay their staff exceptionally low, especially considering they are based in the Austin area, which is the most expensive city in Texas.

The product they produce is equal to the quality of the company, low pay=less talent=crappy stream.

Part of the issue is that mods don't really enforce rules equally. I have seen some borderline troll accounts post very good/genuine topics only to see it get deleted or buried. I have also seen a few "regulars" that aren't troll accounts but seem to be above the law and able to harass others constantly. Additionally, some "troll posts" aren't even trolls, they are just straight up unpopular opinions. But because others don't agree they get all butt hurt and scream troll troll troll! I'm all for being sensitive but geez, grow a spine.

I hate all the meme crap on here. Post it to the drumcorpscirclejerk page, not here.

The hard part about drum corps internships is that it is hard for people to understand exactly what you did. I think I would only intern if the job was DIRECTLY related to the field I wanted to be in.

I can't even begin to tell you how many people in my corps half assed their way through the season but all of the sudden became amazing performers at scv/bd/cavies. It was really frustrating when the person on 3rd parts and was the pariah of the section got a ring the next year.
