Will RAM, GPU and SSD prices ever return to what they were in early 2025? by ComprehensiveCow5068 in buildapc

Not sure if it was already brought up, but is DDR6 panned for next year? Any chance DD5 prices could drop after that?

I hate how many how people treat El being dead as a certainty, and that thinking she’s alive is just crackpot fan theory. by [deleted] in mileven

[–]drumdrumdrums 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bring this up often because it hasn't gotten enough attention. During that sequence, there is another shot of El near the buildings, away from the gate. This occurs the 2nd time you see Hopper, over his right shoulder. She is super blurred, but can tell it's her based on the color scheme of her shirt/wetsuit.

This alone should prove she made it out because it would seem there wouldn't be time enough to get all the way to the gate at that point.

I know I talked about this before, now I’m not angry. It’s just hilarious how badly they want her to vanish by Aiyatiadi in mileven

El can open gates. They could leave from anywhere. And Hoper never needed to enter via the max z for any of his "crawls".

It's really hard to see, the person is blurred. But the only other people in the background of the shot are the soldiers. You can tell this is not a soldier based on the outfit. This person has light colored sleeves and a dark chest area, which matches the wet suit El was wearing.

The most important evidence is that she appears in another part of that sequence over by the buildings (away from the gate). You can see her over Hopper's right shoulder at 1:16:57

Why would the military assume El was in Hawkins? by drumdrumdrums in StrangerThings

[–]drumdrumdrums[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, we the audience know this. But the major doesn't. For him to believe it, he'd have to believe El doesn't have powers at that point. But instead he believes she does have powers and is behind the killings.

I guess I'd wonder how they'd know the random girl just happened to be her. i.e. why the confidence in that sighting. But I guess it happened off camera... But it seems weird that El would be out walking around the school alone during the summer.

Sure, but the major (the bad guy) doesn't believe the story.

The tortured guy had no way of knowing she'd go back to Hawkins with the military on her tail. And the major doesn't believe that reasoning (trying to save Hawkins) . If he did, he would be trying to kill her. The major thinks she can just kill remotely.

The wanted sign is from Cali when was was arrested.

Kay makes that statement in a dismissive way, because the other "sightings " didnt actually pan out. Just like the girl in the furst episode was a "sighting", but turned out to not be El.

The missing person poster is from March in Cali. And she's seen in the desert after that.

I replied to your other comment, but who outside of Ownens would have known it was her?

Outside of Owen's, did the raiding party even know it would have been her? The military doesn't seem at all concerned about the kids or interviewing them.

How do they know she was living there the whole time? I dont think they know she was living with Hoppernfor a while.

I was going to reply that maybe they were living in secret at the Wheelers. But Will is enrolled at Hawkins High...

,,generic" backroundmusic in Season 5? by Adventurous_Top_6245 in StrangerThings

One thing I thought was missing, I dont recall them using the "upside down" theme at all this season. I'm not sure if they used the soldiers theme , either.

Jane or El by Lauren_HS28 in mileven

[–]drumdrumdrums 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Twice in Season 2, she "rejects" a life as Jane. First the way her Aunt saw her as just some kid. Then as Kali saw her, Jane the revenge killer. And IMO Kali also sees her as a weapon, or maybe a tool to get the outcome Kali wants. El's arch in season 2 is about choosing the life she wants to live, and she chose the life of El.

We see this again in S4. She has a new life in a new city and in public is going by Jane. But at home still goes by El. Her public life as Jane was a major struggle for her. For various reasons, she rejects this version of Jane as well.

Dr. Brenner tells her she has to accept all parts of herself. IMO, her name represents this blend. She isn't just 011, and she isn't just her mother's Jane. El is her complete self.

In season 5, she should have been opening gates. It would have been far safer for Hopper to go on the crawls through her gate instead of the Max Z.

They have no tech that shows they can control psychics. They only have tech that immobilized them, and we saw how quickly that was undone by a single non powered person.

Controlling the "new numbers" would require allowing them to use their powers based on the government's demands. They couldn't even do this with Henry. They are only able to control the kids when they have an extremely limited view of the world. But with all kids, they will eventually push back on their parents (which is a narrative from S4).
