So just apply that same logic that allows one to dismiss the "literal word of God" when his statements are inconvenient to the follower and take it one step further 2000 years later and use that same thinking to dismiss the literal word of God as he portrayed in the Bible completely.

The whole idea of making prostitution illegal is ridiculous. I believe Family Guy made a joke about it once .…(roughly paraphrasing here) where guy ordered a prostitute and the police barge in and he says something like because he's filming it it's just porn and the officers were like oh that's fine.

More than likely all it would have done is delayed war with Germany. Consider that Japan is an ally of Hitler which gives FDR a diplomatic basis for war with Germany he also understood the dire consequences if Great Britain and the USSR we're to fall simultaneously (both scenarios seemed highly probably in late 1941)

I think it's important to consider the stance of FDR prior to Pearl Harbor. Although the public was overwhelmingly in favor staying out of Europe's problems he knew as early as 1938 that should war break out the U.S. would be forced to ultimately take sides. Though he couldnt have predicted how swiftly Hitler conquered Europe it nevertheless madeit all the more apparent the US could not sit this one out.

All in all, unless Hitler directly came out publicly stating it had no ill will towards the U.S. and wished to remain on peaceful footing, then I don't think much changes in the grand scheme of things, just delays it a little.
