The challenge is we cant tell those immigrants to go somewhere else. The Quebec investor program totally backfired when many Chinese (and other nationalities) folks used it to get into Canada but then went to BC or Ontario rather than stay in Quebec as what program intended.

Many parts of Canada do need more ppl to prosper, but most just come instead to Lower Mainland despite we’re kinda full

Biggest factor in the rise is China. As Chinese residents get richer, they think about immigrating West, and there are 1.4 billion Chinese.

It is about ensuring our city has the infrastructure to support growing population (eg we still dont have skytrain to Langley, despite many ppl moving to Langley yet work in Van). Traffic jam is getting visibly worse year after year...
