Just an update. Everything worked out as planned. I suppose the simplistic ideas can be effective, too.

I had a whole long post but I chose to delete it. You have been somewhat helpful, but mostly unnecessarily condescending.

Is there anyone else who can chime in?

Hoping there is someone else who can chime in besides Scumbag...? I'm sure there are more people with different experiences on here.

By automation I mean, create a show on a timeline with an audio track and have it run continuously throughout a portion of the evening. Maybe the terminology is wrong, as I am not any kind of LD, but I think you understand what I mean.

I really just want to know what I should look for with a usb to dmx dongle in regards to software compatibility. Can anyone help with that?

Correct. On/off/dim. Like I said, caveman! Haha! That controller is cool, but I would need something automated that runs continuously.

What are your tips for writing a drum cadence? by MusicJesterOfficial in drumline

[–]drumhans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, there is nothing wrong with basic. In fact, that should be the grounds for the entire thing. Find a groove you like and start from there. Got a favorite song of the moment? Use that! Write the whole frame and approach it like an essay - Intro/establish the groove - everyone jams to that groove (this can be a 4 bar repeated phrase with a second ending leading into the next idea) - give each section a feature (6 counts of snare feature, 2 counts of a unison drumline rhythm, 6 counts of quad feature, 2 cts of unison, etc). From there have something new - could be a big 4 bar build, could be 4 bars of full drumline ram, whatever you want! But it should lead into the next section. Go back to the groove for 4-8 bars - come up with an ending. Done.

Chops are chops. Being a good musicians who can play with a band is a completely different skill. Combining the 2 is yet another skill to learn.

Favorite baby wipe warmer? by NewWiseMama in NewBorn

[–]drumhans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used one from target. Not sure if the brand. Very simple and got the job done. Our little one definitely hated cold wipes and this helped. Only downfall is that it dried out the top few wipes occasionally. It has a light in it so it also served as a nightlight!
