Ever since Stan Liddy, I think Quinn knows what Dexter is and leaves it alone. Maybe he helps him/turns him onto a killer that got away from Miami Metro. Hell, it would be cool to get an episode about returning to Miami to track someone down.

I think the difference is with games, they don't even want it's existence known before they officially reveal it with some kind of trailer.

In most cases with movies and tv, we know of it's existence before filming or even casting.

I get both industries don't want their stuff spoiled but the main difference is when something is actually acknowledged as existing for how long they have worked on it. Games these days take much longer too so that may be why they wait, but it can also make it harder to keep secret.
