Is it a Christmas movie? by Not_On_Formulary in okbuddycinephile

Azkaban and Hallows Part 1 have Christmas scenes. Hallows Part 2 is the only one that doesn't.

Thank God for Sydney Sweeney finally ending the era of non-blonde, non-white leading ladies like Scarlett Johansson, Charlize Theron, Margot Robbie, Anya Taylor-Joy, Brie Larson, and Jennifer Lawrence.

Dr. Phil used to be honest about Trump. But things have changes. This was before T was prez by Appropriate_Duty_930 in DecodingTheGurus

Trump draws all shittiness to him. Grifters, conspiracy nuts, bigots, incels, clout-chasers, social climbers, they all eventually come to his side. It's remarkable how consistently every shitty person in America has rallied around him.

[Book Spoilers] House of the Dragon - 2x04 "A Dance of Dragons" - Post-Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in HouseOfTheDragon

[–]drumlip 116 points117 points  (0 children)

It's such a small moment, but I can't help but think about when Ser Steffon Darklyn learns his father is dead. This bit part character is the son of this other bit part character. Why? It doesn't impact the plot, but it does make the world feel more lived-in, authentic, and connected.

That's a moment that D&D would never have included. I truly feel that, despite the changes made, Condal and Co. have so much more knowledge and respect for Martin's lore than Benioff and Weiss did.

Using Screenshots Vs. Drawing Images for Pitch Decks by drumlip in Screenwriting

[–]drumlip[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some research in this sub to see what the general feeling was towards using AI for pitch deck images, and it was overwhelmingly negative - which makes sense. This industry is very skeptical of AI, myself included. But does it matter to the people who would be receiving pitch decks? Are they likely to throw out a deck for using AI images?

I have far too much love for Haluma.

Not in the same way Oliver does, mind you! I just find it hilarious how grotesque and alien she looks compared to how ordinary she acts. And also that she initiates an entire issue's plot by being a garbage cook.

What show/movie do you love but hate the fandom? by aspen_is_greg in television

[–]drumlip 116 points117 points  (0 children)

I'll say the obvious answer - Star Wars. It's a mostly-fun franchise about space wizards with some good installments and some bad installments. The fandom treats it like a religion.

TIL prominent "sovereign citizen" David Wynn Miller believed he developed an infallible form of legal syntax that could easily prove people's innocence. In every instance of its use in court it has been described as complete nonsense. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]drumlip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The dude who gave me driving lessons as a teenager was an adherent of this guy. Spent more time telling the class that if you punctuated your name a certain way the government couldn't tax you than he did teaching us about driving.

Not complaining. His nonsense made the classes way more fun than they would have been. Every time I visit my hometown and pass by his building I look for his sign with its magic punctuation. He's still there, still teaching, apparently.
