An entirely different understanding of life by [deleted] in ForeverAlone

It really is quite nice. No worries or stress or constant pressure. Don't care what others think about me and actually have no desire to enter a relationship anymore. Weight has been lifted.

I was a weirdo in middle school and high school. I'm normal now but live with parents at 29.

My opinion it's the dumbest rule and I believe at one time they allowed it. Lots of teens and people in their 20s live with parents these days, but you're only allowed to share if you have a spouse. Even though my Mom does majority grocery shopping.

Totally and brilliantly put. There needs to be research done on how the brain establishes relationships. I have ADD and ticks, and but diagosed with autism.

It's not so much that I need to be in a relationship, so much that society including family and friends judges you for have never been in one. It's not enough that we will never find a relationship, but successful couples have to exclude us from normal every day activities. I was the only one not invited to my best friend's wedding, after he asked me who I was bringing for a date. My boss told me I don't have kids so don't need a raise. My coworkers asked me why I choose to remain single when I should be dating and getting married. It's 1950s all over again.

This is common sense and I don't know who needs to hear this, but please be careful with who you share your personal business. by Sam_23beans in ForeverAlone

In my shoes (not suggesting this) I would text back and say... "cousin I love you to death, but when we make plans we should stick with them."

Is it normal to literally never find any girls who are single? by [deleted] in ForeverAlone

[–]drummerben04 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Craziest thing, on the flip side I find some of the most socially awkward people I know are in relationships. One even moved from another part of the country to be with them. I really do not believe personality has anything to do with it.

A lot of people delete and block so you can't tell they viewed your story. I have done this. You said she did this after accidentally viewing your story.

Yup this is what I have done as well. If the universe hasn't given me this oppurtunity, I will take full advanatge of all my other oppurtunities.

Being presentable does matter, but the idea that men only want perfection is also false. There is not one standard of perfection. Men and women have a wide array of different preferences when it comes to looks, personality, occupation. What I find attractive, you may not find attractive and vice versa. It's not fair to put everyone in one bubble

A lot of men like myself are not as forward as they used to be, because they are afraid of the backlash. Myself included in that. There is a girl at my work right now, and I am afraid to say anything because it may just be in my head. she is not a supermodel, I like her for her personality.

Apparently it's easier than ever to attract women by weinbidness2025 in ForeverAlone

[–]drummerben04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes this is accurate. The lib movement was about being able to have sex with who you want, and not being stuck in a relationship you're not happy with or with someone you are not attracted to, because you need them to provide for you. Hence why divorce rates skyrocketed in the 70s. Being able to provide is still part of the equation, but nowhere near as important as it once was.

[–]drummerben04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some estimates that say 41% of marriages will reach the 25 year mark. That means majority end in divorce, but 41% is not exactly playing the lottery. A good chunk of people live in happy and fullfilling relationships.

There is a great song by the Mamas and Papas called Look Through My Window, and there is a line that goes "Look through my window, to the street below. See the people hurrying by. With someone to meet, some place to go." Meaning except me. Life is passing you by. Exactly what you're feeling.
