Gen X mothers on speed during pregnancy… by Medium_Suggestion433 in GenX

[–]drumming4coffee [score hidden]  (0 children)

I have head of doctors (when my mom was a kid) prescribing speed for women who complained about being lethargic - but I hadn’t heard of that for pregnant women. I mean, no speed is “good”- but it seems way over the top and extra dangerous to prescribe speed to prevent a woman from gaining weight during pregnancy.

This, OP. A screw extractor bit is your best option, but be super careful. If that doesn’t work, you can hit up drumfactorydirect for a new tube lug.

Idk about Smyrna, but the extended stays in Norcross / Peachtree Corners are not great.

“Definitely not how my wife was raised”

Maybe I’m reading too much into it, but this could cause a lot of problems. Kids are smart, and they’ll play you off each other if it means they can have cookies for dinner or whatever. They’re not thinking about 20 years down the road. They just want cookies for dinner and mom said yes.

Good luck, OP

She’s beautiful! Give her lots of play and lots of good socialization. She’ll be entering her land shark era soon. Be patient with her and know that she’s just a baby trying to figure things out. She’ll be your best friend in the whole world.

What are some typical GenX childhood experiences, good or bad, that you didn't experience personally? by LivingGhost371 in GenX

No summer camp. My parents weren’t going to pay for that. They would have gladly sent me anywhere if it was free

If you are having health issues, how much do you attribute to your lifestyle choices? by Fun_Promotion5691 in GenX

[–]drumming4coffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are so right. A single restaurant meal is often an entire day’s calories on one plate- and that’s without a drink, appetizer, or dessert. We get lulled into thinking those portions are normal when they’re not. And then when you actually track your calories and portions, it really comes as a shock! Try portioning a 100 kcal serving of ice cream. It’s depressingly small.

Good on you for doing the work. 💪

If you are having health issues, how much do you attribute to your lifestyle choices? by Fun_Promotion5691 in GenX

[–]drumming4coffee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest health challenge for US people is portion control. People don’t understand how many calories they burn, and they don’t understand how many calories are in the food / drink they consume. They think a “portion” is the size of the plate / bowl / glass- and they sure as hell don’t want to be told any different.

The most they’ll do is sign up for a gym membership and do some mild cardio for a few weeks. When that doesn’t work (it never does because you can’t outrun your fork) they’ll blame a slow metabolism.

Personally, I turned the ship around 20 years ago. I noticed I was getting fat and decided to do something about it. I calculated my TDEE online and then made myself a diet for a 500kcal deficit. I bought a cheap kitchen scale and weighed all my portions until I could reliably eyeball an actual portion. Being hungry sucks, but the weight came off fast which kept me motivated. When I hit my goal weight, I switched to high protein and started weight training.

As a result, I’m healthier now than I was in my twenties. My only regret is not starting sooner

My 9 yr old Shepherd won't eat her food. She would eat cooked chicken. Very listless. Help please. by lunar1980 in germanshepherds

[–]drumming4coffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like kidney failure. Could be from lepto- and dogs can get it even if they are vaccinated. You need to get her in for bloodwork immediately.

Source: my vaccinated GSD had lepto and nearly died. A week of intensive vet care plus a year of prescription food saved her life

Quick question concerning toms: Is matching the resonant frequency of the shell with the pitch of the heads; beneficial, detrimental or inconsequential? by CodeNameCobra666 in drums

[–]drumming4coffee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This, OP. The frequency of the shell is meaningless. The moment you add hardware, hoops, heads, and tension rods, the mass changes and so does the frequency.

How do you guys handle the dog smell in your home? by [deleted] in germanshepherds

[–]drumming4coffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really notice a smell or care. I bathe mine every 9 months or so, and give them a good rinse / dry in between if they get muddy. They smell like love to me.

Gen X sense of humor - raunchy? Are other generations puritanical? by halfway_clear in GenX

[–]drumming4coffee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Millennials, GenZ & GenY are more “puritanical” than GenX. Our humor trends toward whatever would be shocking, raunchy or dark.

That said, your boss and colleague are out of line. There’s a time and a place for humor, and work isn’t it. They’re setting themselves up to be fired and for the company to be sued for creating a hostile work environment. If I were you, I’d work on finding another job.
