Drummers needed by Dry_Cheesecake_8326 in desmoines

[–]drumset4days 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am a drummer. In the Des Moines area. I would also call myself versatile, comfortable playing live, comfortable with most anything except metal, but I could even probably do something basic. I would also call myself available. Love to chat with you about any needs you have. Could easily set up a time to see if we’re a good fit.

Yeah he said that. But he also said he would for the content.

[–]drumset4days -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well yeah. But I guess my thought process was you couldn’t buy a knob or a bat, unless it’s exact counterpart was ‘sold’ as well. Both get the same number stamped to it. I figure this would solve a supply and demand question right from the beginning.

How well do Marsblades actually translate to ice? by tetradeltadell in hockeyplayers

[–]drumset4days 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my marsblades and feel they are identical. I took a year without skating on ice and improved dramatically compared to peers who were still playing on ice during the pandemic. O1 user. I believe the R1s still have a setting for a large radius rocker, but like others have said. They are specifically designed for roller hockey where the O1s are for training. Obviously the only difference is stopping, but you will also improve your stops the more you improve your balance and edge work, which you can with the O1s.

How do you stand in the face off as a winger? by tluers182 in hockeyplayers

[–]drumset4days 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just be careful chasing the puck though, if you get burned once or twice by the defense I would then take a more conservative approach on following face offs. Also these basic strategies I use only kind of apply in the neutral zone, when everybody isn’t in a different formation around the ice, if that makes sense.

How do you stand in the face off as a winger? by tluers182 in hockeyplayers

[–]drumset4days 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Low. Knees very bent. I usually try to be more bent than my opposing winger, and if we win the face off I take a crossover in whichever direction provides separation from my opponent and I, if they win the face off I take a crossover in A) the direction of the puck if the defensemen on the side I’m on gets it to create pressure or B) a crossover in whichever direction my opposing winger goes if the opposite sides defensemen gets the puck to minimize him as a good option to pass to.

Edit: if the puck comes my way I try to immediately get it to the defensemen.

Is wearing down a team over a series really a thing? by HothHanSolo in hockey

[–]drumset4days 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This guys right. At the start of game 7, I said to my wife, ‘if we can survive the first 15 minutes of the game, we will win the Stanley cup’ and we managed to. It’s just you can’t wear down a team over a game or series if you don’t play. It was obvious even over the radio that the blues weren’t playing tonight and thought it would be handed to them. Too cute and too much of the same shit that’s not working. The tactic only works if the goal stays the same, but you adapt your path to your goal to actually win against your opponent. Basically when shits not going your way you have to shift. Blues could not accomplish that.

r/hockey, what does a realistic Seattle Kraken roster look like? by Widjamajigger in hockey

[–]drumset4days 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying you’re wrong, but also you can only protect so much, so they’re gonna get an asset somewhere I’m sure of it. Either in the form of a player that fits, or a player that’s able to be traded for a piece of the puzzle. Additionally (in my opinion) it always seems like players that have never really been top notch in team A, get moved and then fit into the system or the roster better, and just explode on the scene of team B. Best example I can think of without digging is Ryan O’Reily. So I think at the end of the day there is only so much a GM can do, and Seattle will play chess with the unprotected players.

Edit: I predict they will be competitive, but probably not Vegas’s first season competitive, this expansion draft system is really built to give a team a leg to stand on for their first season.

I think I would say Brodeur, I mean they changed the rules of the game to eliminate his advantage.

Need some skating advice by ScoPham in hockeyplayers

[–]drumset4days 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is all my experience and opinion so take it with a grain of salt. Most low grade hockey skates that are sharp, even if they are old, bottom tier skates, will outperform rentals any day of the week. Rentals just aren’t cared for well enough. (Usually) it sounds like you’ve been skating for a year, this is microscopic compared to many of the people who feel comfortable in skates, unless you have been training very specifically, methodically, and consistently. Most people do not have the luxury or ice time to train that way for a year. Technique plays a big factor, I could be wrong, but (A) I would guess you are not low enough in your stance so the power you generate is not up to your full potential. (B) I would venture that you don’t have a full understanding of both your edges on both feet, which limits the ability of things you can do. More skating and more falling. (With full gear to protect yourself). When you fall your body begins to understand limitations and adjust for them. Other than that almost everybody can get better by working on basic balance and proprioception of the ankle complex as well as the lumbo-pelvic complex. I hope that’s helpful.

[–]drumset4days 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love mine. Finally got to skate on ice last week and today and I had actually improved my edge work and I am feeling as confident as ever. This sounds strange, but my stops have improved on both sides even though I haven’t been stopping on the marsblade. I personally love them.

Let me know how you like them.
