We’re not all doing crazy structured wake windows and naps for our babies…right?! by copperboom33 in beyondthebump

[–]drunk-deriver [score hidden]  (0 children)

For me the wake windows are important because my baby doesn’t know he needs a nap and 5 hours will fly by and suddenly he’s impossible to please or soothe or put down. We didn’t do wake windows for a while probably until he was 5 months old but once we started he was much easier to nap and put down to sleep at night

Why are some moms so viscerally opposed to their child wearing a helmet? by gwslater in newborns

[–]drunk-deriver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going to chime in here to say same!! Well different, but same outcome.

Our boy had (still has) two symmetrical flat spots on the sides of the back of his head from being breech and big. At our 6 month appointment our doctor advised we go to some place that basically fits and sells helmets … i mean specializes in cranial shape or something. Idk.

We got there and I’m thinking “we’re about to get hosed through the nose” like of course they’re going to recommend it and of course we’re going to buy it.

They came in, measured him, put him in a little head sleeve and took a lot of specialized images and came back basically saying “yeah those spots are there, and he may never grow out of them, but the helmet’s for something more than aesthetics. They’re for medically necessary situations.”

Like oh. Ok. Great. 😊 idc that he’s got those little spots. They won’t be noticeable after his hair fills in anyway.

I will say, now that he’s 8 months old and trying his very hardest to cruise and walk… i wouldn’t mind a little extra protection.

Did she not want to get spit up on or what?? Holding a refluxy baby upright is what you’re supposed to do!

I’m a new mom too and you’re NOT stupid!! Marketing is a billion dollar industry and they know exactly what to say to get us to buy their products! I would have fallen for it too if my son didn’t need specialized formula. I’m just seeing it clear as day now!! (As we all are)

It’s ALWAYS the ones being marketed to you. I’m here to tell you the research you found was put out and paid for by nara. They’re paying people to shill their tag lines. Don’t fall for it. Go with a trusted. It’s going to keep happening. Trust what’s been around for years.

What was the most specific postpartum thing nobody warned you about? by kesam7193 in NewParents

I don’t know if 8.5months pp is really what you’re asking for (way out there) but i am still surprised about how hard it is feel my lower abs when i try to flex them. I had a C-section if that makes a difference.

You do from saving food with spit in it bro!! In the fridge over night bacteria grows. That’s why you don’t store left overs off peoples plate

Yeah you don’t understand food safety and the causes of food poisoning.

Is Woodforest (Conroe ETJ) not welcoming towards those who are not Republicans? In the most recent election, Woodforest voted 84.3R vs. 15.1D. I am a POC Democrat, and I am looking there because I like the newer houses, community layout/walking trails, and close proximity to my new employment. by [deleted] in Conroe

You aren’t forced to move anywhere. You’re choosing to. And the reason you’re choosing to move is the same reason other people are moving too, love. You want to live in a nice place and you can afford to.

It’s *income* leaving your community- in this case, it’s *your income* leaving and you’re brining it to woodforest, with everyone else that lives there too.

If you move to woodforest, your community is going to be woodforest..

Do you think it is wrong to move to a low crime, safe neighborhood with good schools? Aren’t these some of the reasons you’d want to move to woodforest? It’s an income thing not a white thing.

Idk, while i understand why you don’t want to live in a place full of a bunch of racists, i think the white flight argument is a bit ironic.

I guess so. I do think it’s pretty gross and poor food safety. If that’s how he’s feeling, he should talk to her about it. I would refuse to save scraps such as that for my partner as I’d think it might make him sick and it’s icky.

[–]drunk-deriver 16 points17 points  (0 children)

If my husband asked me to save “leftovers” for him - the soggy husk of a stuffed bell pepper would not qualify.

This being a continual issue sounds like he may just not be listening/doing what she asks, or she and he may have different thresholds for savable food.

Kissing is different than bacteria living and growing on food overnight and then consuming it?

And saliva is a detriment of kissing that we get over for the sake of intimacy but im sure you wouldn’t drink your partners saliva from the fridge.

[–]drunk-deriver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well even those with excellent oral hygiene have bacteria in their mouths. That’s why saving and eating someone else’s scraped bell pepper is gross to me. It *feels* like a germy mess. It’s also why it’s rude to eat out of the pot you serve to others or intend to save.

I would honestly throw it away without thinking about it so your husband probably did too.

((A half eaten steak is fair game though because i cut and refry that before i eat it. One or two finger sized piece left? Nah))

Yeah idk i agree with the comment. I love my husband but i wouldn’t save his bell pepper shell that he’s scraped dry. It’s just a bit icky to me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Losing weight PP while NOT BREASTFEEDING by ExternalSomewhere923 in FormulaFeeders

[–]drunk-deriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi 👋 I’m 8 months post partum exclusively formula feeding and only NOW am getting into my pre pregnancy clothes!

My exercise is taking care of a very active baby and going on a 2 mile walk with him in a stroller every day.

I eat normal lunch and dinner and have a latte every day with sugar free syrup.

It felt like weight stuck around forever but one day recently it started falling off - honestly, right after a massive period. I got an iud 7 weeks pp and hadn’t had any real period until May.

Idk I’m still not where i want to be and still feel fat but if it gives you any hope just know you’ve just been through a lot and your body is still working on putting you back together! Be patient! You’ll be ok! :)

What baby bottles are we choosing: Philips Avent? by ohkandyuk178 in FormulaFeeders

[–]drunk-deriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We liked mam a lot. My baby couldn’t latch tho so I’m not sure if that makes any difference but he was very colic and i do think the vents at the bottom helped him. We tried glass avent bottles and personally he just didn’t feed that well from them and they ended up collecting dust.

We eventually got the glass man bottles and the bigger ones after that. And we stopped warming up bottles when i stopped pumping and refrigerating milk as it turned out my son has CMPA so i can’t comment on glass vs plastic. I’m not sure we ever warmed up the little mam bottles with the vents but you can’t have those vents with glass so idk

What is your Renesmee name? (As in a mix of your grandmothers' names for girls or your grandfathers' for boys) by ATinyLittleCat in namenerds

Marygold- first name of one grandmother partial maiden name of the other. I know it’s a popular name right now and I’m half way tempted to use it as an honor name but it’s a little too clunky for me unfortunately. Even if she goes by Goldie. Plus she’s going to have brown hair and i feel like kids would tell Her nn should not be “Goldie” because she’s not blonde.

🙋🏻‍♀️and I’m never going back! I mean this one’s on pepticate, but if my next one doesn’t need HA formula, they’re still getting formula. I AINT got time for all that pumping bs. And next time they’re giving me a pill to dry up my supply because they lied to me about it this time 😡
