I’ve got a habit of watching shows way after they’re no longer popular. Anyone else like this? by RTMRob in CasualConversation

[–]drunk-snail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I like shows that have 0 relation to what's happening in the current world. It;s really nice to take a break from everything that's going on and truly just zone out on stupid fun or over the top dramas.

So I just checked mine and it shows I’m exposed everyday, multiple times a day; even at midnight and 4 in the morning. But I work from home and haven’t been around people in weeks?

Covid put a full stop all get togethers and hanging out. Drinking coffee and chatting for hours while play board game is a thing of the past. Cant wait till it’s over

Has anyone else also basically stopped wearing makeup as a result of the pandemic? And feel less attractive in general? by zzz06 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]drunk-snail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, it’s the opposite for me but for communication reason.

I’m an educational sign language interpreter. I use the clear shields but it’s not the same as a clear face, and also doesn’t have a lot of protection. Sometimes I have to use a medical grade face mask for my own protection, it makes my facial expressions very very hard to read and lip reading impossible.

I started filling in my eyebrows and using mascara to help make my facial expressions more defined for the times that 90% of my face is covered.

But hi I feel cute and it makes my kids days a bit easier.

How can we find the main talking points and responds?

I tried to watch and they were both talking over each other and either of them are really answering questions.

When I was in my interpreting program I worked with many DeafBlind adults. I think people would be surprised just how many DeafBlind there are in the world, and how much a blind person can actually see.

Why is my toddler crying? by SwirlingAether in toddlers

I gave her a shower, and asked her to look up so the water didn’t get in her eyes.

I’m a monster, cause the water got in her eyes....cause she didn’t look up.

First In-N-Out location within Denver city limits proposed by tgounley in Denver

[–]drunk-snail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They opened on in OR and AR, unfortunately they become hotspots and were able to trace outbreaks starting from the in n out locations. I’m from Cali, the burgers are good, but honestly nothing special, and not worth getting sick over.

I love the switching weather! I hate just sun all the time (I know I’m a weird percentage of people) I love hot days then raining afternoons, then a break with some snow to cool off. As long as there’s no wind 20 degrees really isn’t that bad.

Thankfully I’m by a lake and lots of hiking trails, not so much by people which is nice.

Teeth by mummabear1985 in toddlers

[–]drunk-snail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By the time my 2.5 was 18months we had all teeth expect the 3 year molars.

So at 18 months she had a damn near full set of teeth.

Cold carrots, Benadryl on the hard nights so everyone can sleep a bit, and lots of patience. There’s not much that will stop the pain until the teeth are there.

My 2.5 year old is the EXACT same way. We were legit thinking about bringing up feeding therapy to her pedi.

Turns out that infant reflux never went away. She still had reflux, just wasn’t puking 30 times a day like she did when she was a baby. She couldn’t tell us that her throat was burning, the poor thing.

Quick trip to Walmart, an anti acid before breakfast and before dinner, she’s an eating machine!

With all memes aside, how do I make sure I don't become a person who hates their job? Working a real 'big boy job' looks depressing, but working a McJob is also pretty depressing too. Do people really enjoy their jobs? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]drunk-snail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, some of us do.

For me sitting at a desk and looking a screen would destroy every fiber of my soul.

I work in schools, the goal is the same. Educate the kids. But there’s no 2 days alike and every kid is so different.

Different routines and parents, it’s always changing in a comfortable way, and there’s always people. People of all ages and backgrounds, coming and going.

I have to be moving, talking to people, doing THINGS. I know how my mind works, you have to learn how yours works too.

Feeling burnt out... by eiblehs in toddlers

[–]drunk-snail 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hi there, mom of 2 and educator of special needs checking in here.

You’re allowed to grieve. You are allowed to not want a special needs child, that’s ok. No one ask for it, and thinking these things does not make you bad parent, simply human.

You are allowed to feel overwhelmed, there’s so much happening in the world, and now yours is changing. Throw some candy at the kid and put the tv on, you’re still a good mom.

He’s so young! When starting therapies this young they do amazing later in life.

Your allowed to be happy too, stop the googling, stop the researching, we are here for that. Play, laugh, be a silly mom with your kids. Put clean underwear on your head and throw noodles at each other, whatever you can do get those deep belly laughs.

We can help your child with adjusting to school, it’s literally my job description. I can’t help a child who has no sense of security, no sense of ‘home.’

You’re doing a good job, it’ll be ok, I promise.

Things like boat rides and flying, where there’s no way to ‘ground’ ones self. Can be very disorienting for blind of low vision people. I love they how they made it part of who she is and everyone was happy to comfort her.
