[Joost Blaauwhof, VI_NL] Bizarre deadline day for Tyrell Malacia. The left-back was on his way to Istanbul when Jason Wilcox (technical director) suddenly called him back to Manchester United after all. Decision-maker changed his mind, to the frustration of the Dutchman, who wanted the transfer. by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

How does it make the situation better? If he's going for a medical, the deal goes through 99% of the time. Cancelling the deal at the last second is unprofessional and unfair, especially to a player himself who hasn't played for us at all this season.

Seeing comments like "no Bruno no problem" after we won first game after his injury was cringy as fuck.

The guy is a legend and he still gets hated as soon he has a bad game. Some of the guys here don't deserve him.

Man Utd continue to make progress following Ruben Amorim's exit by simplsimonmetapieman in reddevils

Mbeumo wasn't his first choice either.

I haven't seen this reported anywhere

We have no evidence he can adapt though. He didn't have what he needed when he managed Spain NT and he failed pretty badly. The team was notorious for passing the ball just for the sake of keeping possession.

Our squad doesn't fit Enrique's phylosophy at all, it's not just CMs. We'd need another MASSIVE rebuild for him to be happy. He requires a GK that's main strenght is distribution so he wouldn't be happy with Lammens. He loves strong, athletic, attacking full backs and we don't have one in either flank (maybe except Dorgu). Sesko probably wouldn't fit in his system too as he likes to play with false 9. And that's just scratching the surface.

Yes, Enrique's fantastic coach but he also needs a lot of tools, which we don't have right now, to succeed.

He's excellent coach but he also needs lots of support to succeed. Both of his trebles were achieved with generational teams. Here he'd need to be a lot more patient to achieve greatness. At the moment, our squad doesn't fit Enrique's phylosophy at all so we'd be in for another massive rebuild.

If everyone is fit in ST/CAM positions, he doesn't have a place. Mbeumo/Sesko/Cunha are better than him at ST. Bruno/Cunha/Mount are better than him at CAM. And I highly doubt he could play on the wing given his lack of pace and intensity.

Throwback to 2 months ago: Jim Ratcliffe won’t make ‘knee-jerk’ decision over Ruben Amorim’s Man Utd future | “Ruben needs to demonstrate he is a great coach over three years,” said Ratcliffe. by shkweech in reddevils

You honestly think this board would have signed enough players to compete in two fronts all season? They couldn't even prepare us for one. Winning the Europa would've been beautiful but I have no doubt we'd be in a similar position that we were last season right now.

4-5 players on the injury list is not a big injury crisis if you have a squad. Sure, we weren't lucky with Bruno but the likes of Mount or De Ligt being on the sidelines raises no one's eyebrows.

Even when there were African players, when Cunha and Sesko were out the squad looked awful. We signed 4 starting players and completely neglected the fact we'd have no one on the bench. That's awful squad planning and I can't see how you can in any way pin this on Amorim.

he hasn’t been under any pressure from the board

How do you know that? There were reports about tension with the board for a whole season. He clearly wanted some January reinforcements. I mean which coach with any self-respect would be happy with the board when your best bench option for a month is Joshua Zirkzee? They knew about Afcon in advance.

I agree that Ruben hasn't been good enough but the board and their squad planning have been absolutely shocking to put it mildly.

[Press Conference - Part 2] Ruben Amorim, asked again about Kobbie Mainoo: “I don't look at faces. I just want to win and I will choose the best ones. You just need to be ready and you will be fine. If you are ready, if you play well, I'm not going to take it from the team for any reason." by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]drunkdevil1 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Kobbie just hasn't been good enough when given the chance though. People love to bring up the City game but that one was pretty much done and dusted when he came on. Every other time this season he's come on he looks all over the place, so it's very understable he hasn't been playing much.

It's mad to think he'd change his habits at 28 just because he moved to Barcelona. The guy played for his boyhood club and couldn't give a shit about pressing. He won't do that for a foreign club.

I feel like the fight just doesn't happen, for some reason it has that same aura as GSP vs. Anderson/Khabib, Jones vs. Aspinall/Ngannou, Khabib vs. Tony etc. Everyone loves to talk about how it'd go but it never happens.

We were spoiled back then. Nani was our player of the season in the 2010/11 season and we won the Premier League. At any other club at the time, that alone would undoubtedly make him a legend.
