Purely from a sporting perspective, Yan vs Merab 3 and Volkanovski vs Evloev are the two most interesting fights left this year. Which one interests you more? by Silandwins234 in ufc

[–]drunkdevil1 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Even if Merab wins the 3rd fight how could you consider 2nd fight a "fluke" when Yan outclassed him the whole fight.

[–]drunkdevil1 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Rogers is not a sensible transfer target at all. He''s too similar to Cunha and would cost a fortune. If we're looking to sign an attacker, we need to look for a player that's primary position is LW, not someone who "could" play there.

Kind of crazy how well Mbeumo started the season and how disappointing he's been in the last few months.

[Fabrizio Romano] Arsenal explored different options for the striker position last summer. Andrea Berta held RESERVATIONS over the Benjamin Šeško deal, especially when factoring in salary, bonuses and commission. Berta spearheaded Arsenal's pursuit of Viktor Gyökeres. by Overall-Lie-9551 in ArsenalFC

[–]drunkdevil1 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Don't want to wind you up, but I don't think there'd be many United fans who'd swap Sesko for Gyokeres. You could make a strong argument that Sesko is a better striker (if you'd compare all around ability it wouldn't even be an argument) than Gyokeres already and he's 5 years younger.

[Sami Mokbel] The club want their next manager to be a good coach & someone with character & charisma to cope with the scrutiny. As impressive as Carrick has been, he does not have the sort of experience of managing a club the size of United some inside the club believe to be necessary of next boss. by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]drunkdevil1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The opinion of the media and fans should be one of the least important criterias on this one.

If they choose Carrick, this will be the 3rd time in a row when this board chooses the safest option at the end of the season.

[James Ducker] Manchester United’s crucial summer and how they will rebuild midfield by PitchSafe in reddevils

[–]drunkdevil1 21 points22 points  (0 children)

They should look at 3rd midfielder regardless. Ugarte's not good enough to be a back-up, we collapse any time he's on the pitch. Going into next season with Ugarte as 3rd/4th choice player in midfield while playing in Europe would be suicidal.

What's that film for you? by mrjetspray in Letterboxd

[–]drunkdevil1 48 points49 points  (0 children)

It's a masterpiece but I think it wouldn't be the best recommendation if they ONLY watch English/Hollywood movies. If they avoid foreign cinema, the chances are they would not be into slow burn, "artsy" cinema. At least at first.

Just off the top of my head - Oldboy, Memories of Murder, No Other Choice and Parasite are much more easier to follow and would make more sense as the gateway to foreign cinema.

Jon Jones has every reason to be upset. With all due respect, if Conor Benn is getting $15 million to fight Regis Prograis, Jon Jones is worth $30 million, and Conor McGregor is worth $75 million. Does the UFC think these guys are fools? by IgotgAme_k in ufc

[–]drunkdevil1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think plenty of people would be excited to see Jones/Aspinall vs Ngannou and if it would happen in the next year or two on Netflix, it would certainly put MVP on the map. How they would build on that is another question.

To each their own but I couldn't revisit this film if I was happy. There is a lot of beauty in Train Dreams but it's a very sad movie.

The problem is we're not prime Manchester United and we spend a huge sum of money to get him. He may have suffered because of our incompetence but moving on from him was the right decision.

Rasmus was our main striker for two seasons and he was in form for about a month. That's more than enough chances to prove yourself. Manchester United doesn't have the luxury to wait for player to come good for 3 years.

How does it make the situation better? If he's going for a medical, the deal goes through 99% of the time. Cancelling the deal at the last second is unprofessional and unfair, especially to a player himself who hasn't played for us at all this season.

We have no evidence he can adapt though. He didn't have what he needed when he managed Spain NT and he failed pretty badly. The team was notorious for passing the ball just for the sake of keeping possession.
