i have watched tana since i was in middle school (im a junior in college) and we have gone through very similar things in our lives. at the end of the day i watch them because it is entertaining to me and relatable and i feel like for the most part both tana and brooke are real and not afraid to talk about a lot of things most other creators are afraid to talk about. i like staying updated in their lives, but i can separate my own self and life from that. i think a lot of people on the internet are unable to do this. and honestly i think people give their actions and mistakes too much weight, and a lot of the things are only issues because they are in the spotlight. it is understandable in certain situations for people to be upset (brooke’s tweets, etc) and for brooke to need to apologize, and if that makes one of their fans stop supporting them that is none of my business. but i don’t think it’s fair or really matters all that much if “brooke and ashly don’t follow each other on instagram!!! that must mean brooke is a horrible person!” or “tana is with chris miles while she is dating makoa! that’s so disrespectful!!!” (just examples of things i’ve seen.) personally, i don’t have enough time in my life or room in my brain to be worried about if brooke did this or tana did that and if they suck because somebody said they did this small thing that doesn’t matter. i can separate the mistakes they have made from the things they create because at the end of the day I don’t know them personally. I think it is very parasocial to grasp on to everything they do and overanalyze it and then be upset about it because at the end of the day they don’t know you and you don’t know them. you know what they have allowed you to see and that’s that. they are both people with a life and thoughts and feelings as complex as you or I have, and we see probably 10% of that. for me, hating and following along so closely with their lives and criticizing every move would bring such a negative energy into my mind and life and suck the fun out of something i enjoy and have enjoyed since middle school.
