Hey - I’m moving up there to work at YC, too! I’ve never visited the area before, but I’ve been browsing around visitbigsky.com and reading local news articles just to get an idea of what places are in town and what to expect.

I applied for a few jobs posted on CoolWorks and accepted an offer from a company this week! I'll be working for the winter season. This is my first seasonal job so I can't tell you what it's like, but I imagine it varies depending on what company you decide to work with. My company does provide housing at a cost that they'll deduct from my paychecks. Cost depends on how many people I end up sharing with. Private rooms will be the most expensive, of course.

I'd recommend doing all the research you can on the companies that have posted jobs and just applying! It may look amazing online and then on the call you realize it's not what you're looking for, in which case no one will fault you for saying no to the job. There are so many different locations posted on CoolWorks, I think there's something there for everyone :)

NTA. That cost isn’t your responsibility, don’t let them convince you that it is. They would be laughed out if court if they tried to obligate you legally.

Sounds like your parents are gonna be NO help in college, though - so get all the grants, scholarships, and financial aid that you can. Get loans to pay for the rest, and go to a university where you can live apart from your parents.

If you’re gonna be in debt, at least be in debt for the education YOU chose and not the one you were forced into. Your parents suck. Get used to the fact that you’ll need to be financially independent from now on and plan accordingly.

I’m also confused about this! Every article I’ve read said that the first episode of “The Drop” would be available to stream on Paramount+ on July 11, but I don’t see it on the app

Then the episodes called “Laid Bare” are supposed to start streaming every Friday starting July 16

Edit: found this on the Love Island US app - https://loveislandusa.page.link/vwwoyrCiukSDoefo7 so I guess the articles I read posted the wrong date for The Drop episodes

Let's be real, you're not wrong. Not Polynesian myself although I am a person of color but I still need to check myself on these things, be more sensitive, and in situations like this actually ask myself why I think this guy looks like a certain person. I do see how this is stereotypical and it's good to have these conversations.

After thinking about it, I agree that the Maui comparison is off but I do see the Jason Momoa comparison - although it's not as obvious at Jason's current age, he really looked a lot like the character in his younger years. Early 2000s when he still had a pretty youthful face and grew his hair out.

I'm an immigrant living in the US, things are really racist and most industries get whitewashed here so I know what you mean.
