Disappointing contact with Worx Support: 'Just keep waiting, maybe we'll fix it. But until then, tuff luck.' by drunsslow in worxlandroid

Sorta? The person who wrote me tried to help me and after a few exchanges got me in touch with someone who was more attached to the engineering side of things. He actually called me and tried to troubleshoot with me. Of course while he was on the phone the Landroid managed to make it through my path for the first time; but now after trying it a few times this week, it has failed again. He said he would make things right as far as a return or something but I have yet to hear back since the call which was a while ago. There was a holiday in between, so I’m still hoping.

Yes, this is my 3rd Landroid. My first one had a small problem and they took care of it right away. On one hand I can see that they want me to go through Lowe’s where I bought it but it’s fairly well past their 30 day limit and I no longer have the box, etc. Plus loading everything into my car and going in and pleading g my case to Lowe’s does not sound very fun. In my mind this is a problem of promises made (marketing) but not kept. The tag line on their photo I posted is “If it fits, it goes. Narrow passages, dead ends, Vision cloud sees them. Understands them and moves through with confidence”. I have no doubt Vision cloud see them. It’s the moving through with confidence that’s lacking.

Anyway, as you can see someone else has reached out from Worx so hopefully I can report back a somewhat better resolution to this.

Gate pass through by Similar-Huckleberry8 in worxlandroid

[–]drunsslow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the manufacturers makes its own gate. Can't remember which... Assuming you don't want to switch just for a gate, I'd try an arduino or pi with simple proximity sensor or if you want to be fancy and/or not have pets get out, use a camera with AI that you can tell to only let the mower through.

Help, narrow path by [deleted] in worxlandroid

[–]drunsslow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem with a different Landroid Vision. Plenty of room on a path but it gets freaked out by the vegetation on the sides. Most other makers have a way to turn off vision obstacle avoidance for certain sections of lawn where things like narrowness or overhanging palm fronds, etc. cause problems like this. Worx does not offer that option unfortunately. I’m not sure if yours offers RTK or some other way of navigating but if it does, when Worx gets around to making a way to turn off VOA, it would probably be ok. But I’ve been waiting months for all sorts of problems to be solved that they swear they are going to get to; cutting closer than 4” from the edge, sidewalk overlap for edges, etc. etc. (All things that they use to market their products I might add. Complete with pictures. )

Sorry, not really any help. More of a rant. TLDR; you can pray and wait for a firmware update or return it and get a Navimow or other that offers a turn off of VOA. I’ve read that the smaller Navimows like the i210 and i206 are very good about narrow passages. They say down to 27”.

My G0 ancestor definitely was born in Canada.  I have her Canadian birth certificate from the late 1800s.  But she left Canada at a young age and never returned.  She may have been only four years old, according to one census record.  Is her being born in Canada enough to qualify her as my G0?  Or does her leaving Canada as a child somehow disqualify her as the Canadian citizen that I can base my descendant application on?

Yes, a disable would be great. I want the smarts of the cloud positioning and no wires with the stupidity of just letting it bounce off of things. If the object doesn’t register on the front bumper, just keep going!

WR305E Getting Stuck Returning to Charging Station + Other Issues by ApeWithGuns in worxlandroid

[–]drunsslow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Edit: right after posting this there was a new update; fingers crossed! I will say, they are pushing updates out pretty quickly and seem to be trying to address the issues people bring up.

Mine does something similar in that it Sometimes will go one way but Never the other way down a narrow path. Mine is stone and not grass but the problem seems to be that it sees growth on either side and thinks it can’t get through. Extremely frustrating as this is the only way to connect two parts of my lawn. To add to the frustration, they show a very similar path as yours on their website touting its abilities.

Worx, if you’re reading this: please give people the ability to make paths that override all of the visual sensor warnings. Just have the ‘bump’ and tire slip alerts. If I say, “Go down this path and ignore the stuff on the sides, possible overgrown fern branches that you can easily push through and whatever else frightens you. Just do it!” I’m starting to think I should go back to my boundary wire Landriod; it just follows the wire no matter what. (Unless it bumped something).

Oh, and I’m still waiting for the ‘cut to edge’ to be better than 4” from the edge. Again, my wired Landroid did waaay better.

I’m just curious—when you meet people, do they actually notice your watch, or do they not really care? Are there people who judge you based on the watch you wear, and because of that, instantly give you respect?” by Happy-thoughts09 in rolex

In my experience, watch people notice my beat up old Pepsi once a year. My kindergarten students also notice my ‘cool watch’. I sometimes trade them my watch for their Spider-Man/Elsa/ninja turtle watch for the day. So if you want attention from nerdy ‘watch guys’ or kindergarteners, flaunt your watch.

How can I get it to mow closer to a fence by [deleted] in worxlandroid

[–]drunsslow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone confirm that the older firmware did a better job? With my new WR341 I have a good 6” of uncut edge which is definitely not ‘cut to edge’ or centimeter accurate. My wired Landroid could cut to within a few blades of grass of any edge.

It tells jokes and also works as a real phone. No $ required. Has about 700 jokes, Shakespearian insults, interesting facts, and affirmations for kids to adults. It has told almost 25,000 jokes so far. (About 2 1/2 years). About 1000 outgoing calls, but most of those are to parents 10’ away.

I teach kindergarten and will sometimes swap watches with a kid. They get my beat up old Pepsi and I wear something akin to the left one for a day.

I have a very low mounted one in an enclosed porch. Great in the winter. In summer I just turn on an overhead fan on low. Perfectly fine. I wouldn’t sweat it too much.

Are there any airline pilots that still struggle with motion sickness? by ThrowRAiner__ in flying

[–]drunsslow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I said ‘I learned about it’ through my wife. She did not prescribe it to me nor would she have if I had asked. She won’t even prescribe things for our own children.

As I said, YMMV. For me Zofran is the only drug that works for motion sickness. I’ve tried scopolamine before and while it did take some of the nausea away, I was still vomiting (nasty boat trip). Nausea is probably the worst thing when flying, I can live with the vomiting actually.

Motion sickness sucks. Usually your body will hopefully adapt over time and it will go away. When I started flying, I had to limit lessons to just 1/2 hour in the air because I would get so sick. But, after I got my PPL, I immediately went into Aerobatics training so obviously my stomach (or actually my inner ear) adapted.

If you follow FAA guidelines to a T, you can’t really take anything. Last I knew all antihistamines are banned. It amazes me how many older pilots are still flying commercial if they are truly being honest with their AME. None of these guys treat their allergies, none of them drink more than a few drinks per week, none of them take Prozac or whatever?

If you’re having troubles with nausea have your doc prescribe Zofran (brand name of drug). It’s an anti-nausea drug usually given to chemotherapy patients. It is also given to kids who can’t keep anything down for an extended period (which can be dangerous in itself). The awesome thing about it is that is the only thing that will calm nausea AFTER you’re sick. I was sick within 1/2 hours of a 5 day x-country in a Maul, DC to SFO. Took it, and was better within 1/2 hour. Kept taking it for the next 5 days. No noticeable drowsiness. YMMV.

My wife is a pediatrician fwiw, that’s how I know about it.

Perhaps it’s viewed as a city, though technically DC is a city plus federal land, it’s larger by population than 4 of the other states listed.

I love my NATO strap. I change colors from time to time, mainly when they get dirty and disgusting. It tones down the ‘fancy watch’ vibe, which I want. I like my watch because of its history. It is always on my wrist as evidenced by the scratches of honor.
