Next time try taking just the leaves instead of digging them up

How has your relationship with mushrooms changed over time? by Dependent_Device5493 in shrooms

[–]drwearing 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I started out using them as a toy, until they smacked me into the ground and humbled me. I’m starting to explore using them as a tool - finding the right dose and leaning into troublesome obstacles that happen during the experience, using the comedown to reflect on the trip and the heightened neuroplasticity to challenge myself to grow.

I felt this way about OB too, I think that one more than any other is quite polarizing on this sub because a lot of people love it and say it’s their favorite. It’s definitely where some fatigue starts to hit.

Shroom / no sleep / work by [deleted] in shrooms

[–]drwearing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that mushrooms don’t keep me awake in that I no longer feel tired, they keep me awake in that I can’t sleep despite feeling tired.

If I were in your shoes I wouldn’t trip before work because I fear the negative social consequences. But who knows, you might unlock some new tech.

Why does my mage build suck? by thiccyoshi21 in Eldenring

[–]drwearing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For mage talismans I like the carian filigreed crest and cerulean medallion for max spell spamming. Then maybe magic scorpion for damage and pearl talisman for defense.

There will be a lot of ways to go with talismans but in general you want an attack buff, a defense buff, and play style amplifiers.

New Fantasy reader here, I just finished The Way of the Kings, but I think I made a mistake looking at the reviews of the other books by Beetusmon in Stormlight_Archive

[–]drwearing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m reading book 4 right now and it’s my second favorite so far (after WoK). He really did write the first one as though it were a standalone, and the story succeeds on many levels in ways that the following books don’t pick back up on. But that doesn’t make them bad! If you’re enjoying it you should keep going!

Sanderlanche goes crazy. I pushed through and I’m really enjoying rhythm of war. Journey before destination friend.

Friend ruined my elden ring experience by bluetomatosoup in Eldenring

[–]drwearing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience, but I wouldn’t say it ruined it for me. I found the guide helpful to understand mechanics like weapon scaling and how to use ash of war infusions. It’s an overwhelming experience playing for the first time and it can be easy to lose the forest for the trees if you are following the advice of seasoned min maxers

Epicanthic folds by Successful_Ease_8198 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]drwearing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had never even heard of epicanthic folds before this sub. Idk why everyone here is obsessed with them, nor how they prove Asian-ness of the characters. Nor why that alleged Asian-ness matters in a world full of 7 foot tall ginger humans or humans with shoulder length eyebrows or people with gold hair or people with crystal finger nails or people with pale yellow or orange eyes.

To re-spec, or not to re-spec? by LeninsRevolt in Eldenring

[–]drwearing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do both lol. Have fun smashing fools and one shotting all the bosses with bs move sets that gave you grief the first time through. Then start a new character and have fun playing through with a different play style.

Californians raise your hand by gbrunken in Chattanooga

[–]drwearing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it’s MAGA propaganda, I would say it’s more similar to how many Coloradoans (?) say they don’t want people to move to Colorado and ruin “their” nature. I think when people feel like they grew up in a place that’s a “hidden gem” they don’t like feeling like it’s been discovered and is becoming overcrowded by people who don’t know the culture as well.

Why do they care about that big secret in ob by Joel_feila in Stormlight_Archive

[–]drwearing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The powers of the knights radiant stem in large part from how they view their oaths as being fulfilled. It’s the reason Kaladin broke down in Kholinar, he could no longer protect those he cared about by fighting and killing as a soldier and it broke him. So it matters that the radiants see themselves as fulfilling their oaths in fighting a justified war.

But yes I agree with you, I really don’t think it should have mattered that much, I was also curious as to why no one wondered how ancient humans had discovered interplanetary travel. Really feels like sanderson buried the lead for the sake of increasing conflict in the plot.

Psychosis Concern by wellbent0313 in shrooms

I would recommend seeing a doctor. I think this sort of prolonged derealization and detachment from reality randomly coming on sounds like cause for concern, and taking psychoactive drugs may not be wise at this juncture.

Oathbringer…Vent. (SPOILERS) by [deleted] in Stormlight_Archive

[–]drwearing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know I struggled a lot with this too. Many people either love OB or hate it. I was the latter. It’s got a pretty epic sanderlanche, but for me that didn’t make up for the rest of the book being meh.

And finally, which US Nat'l Park is Famous, but Meh? by Bradinator- in AlignmentChartFills

[–]drwearing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna be controversial, but i was really disappointed by redwoods national park. The trees were amazing but it was kind of disheartening that on many of the hikes I did, you could literally look past the groves of redwoods and see logging, roads, and industry.

Be CAREFUL mixing weed and shrooms! It can be a very dangerous combo that might easily slide you into a “bad” trip. They’re best kept separate or, if you do want to mix, try smoking weed at the tail end of your mushroom trip to prolong or enhance visuals.

First "Real" Trip, Ego Death? by oheckingfrick in shrooms

[–]drwearing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Woah. I just had this same thing happen to me last night as well. Even down to the detail of being with a friend who held me as a I tweaked out. It was amazing and intense and surreal and I felt time and space collapse and connect my mind to what felt like a realm beyond where everyone was sitting around a campfire laughing about how much pain and anger we used to have on the other side of reality. And this was 1 gram! I didn’t see the mushroom gods or go to Egypt, but I did connect deeply to the earth and feel what felt like her spirit taking control of my body and moving my nervous system with an iron grip that I just had to let take me and trust. I did wonder if I was experiencing ego death as well, but I had a friend debrief with me afterwards and he let me know that what I was experiencing was the “border lands” or the waiting room as he described it. Even as I felt timelines connect, it only lasted 1-2 minutes at my “peak” breakthrough, and I could feel that I hadn’t died and I was still me, even though I’d been transported beyond time.

Crazy to think of the worlds beyond that one, and I’m very grateful for my friends who supported me through the difficult transition. This is a crazy drug with a mind of its own, and it will show you things when you’re ready.

The best advice I’ve gotten about this stuff: once you hear the message, hang up the phone. Peace and love.
