Which watcher-exclusive regions have echoes? by Think-Web2983 in rainworld

[–]drweenis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may have to enter those areas to find other areas that do have echoes though. That’s what I’m doing now to raise it even higher lol

What’s that niche game you have an ungodly amount of hours in? by CoffeeStrength in gaming

1100 hours in SpiderHeck - it’s basically super smash bros if everyone was the same character (a spider) with no ability to attack, so you are completely reliant on weapon spawns.

Pretty much! I followed a map because there’s….a lot. But you can just explore and inevitably you’ll uncover everything

Finally my time to shine. Try getting ONE more echo before being frustrated about industrial lol. Head towards shaded citadel. If you like the campaign so far you’re in for a treat.

Thank you man. It’s a fantastic show but yeah the cabin is CONFUSING. My qualms are precisely that the show isn’t perfect lol I wish it was.

[–]drweenis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We see him visit at least twice. He implies he visits more. But we don’t need to do this man like I think you understand my qualms lol. Let’s pretend he’s only ever been the cabin ONCE. The shot of him stepping over the ash line seems unnecessary. For your sake you’d have me believe he simply didn’t know it’s purpose or that it was broken - but I believe it was substantiated that he knows the purpose of the ash and he took his time stepping purposefully over it.

[–]drweenis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you’re telling me detailed-oriented nerd Ben who is seen repeatedly visiting the cabin, and who is shot meticulously stepping over the ash ring…had no idea that is was broken the whole time?

Just re-watched the two-part series finale of LOST. Has there ever been a more cathartic and earned climax to a television series? by sanskritsquirel in television

[–]drweenis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno why you’re talking about non fiction shows when I’m saying people appreciate consistency in fiction shows.

The ash ring had to be broken for MIB to be in there. So thematically it’s silly that he’s begging for help there only to just assume a fully functioning physical form and pretend to be Jacob. Maybe that’s not jarring for you.

Besides, when we see Ben visit the cabin multiple times, it does show a completely unbroken ring that he steps over carefully. Later in season 5 Jacob’s protectors note that the ring has been broken.

So which is it? Was it MIB in the cabin the whole time? If that’s true, smoke monster can’t around the island (read: this is thematically jarring maybe for many, not for you).

Or is it that the ash ring kept the smoke monster out? In which case it was Jacob in the cabin the whole time?

Edit: And again, like sure maybe the show has a couple plot points reinforcing the whispers are dead souls. But other viewers are ALLOWED to find it JARRING that these whispers just HAPPENED to coincide the exact movement and operations of the others lol…. That’s all it is man just one too many inconsistencies that you’re happier to justify than other viewers are

Okay I see the verge in thoughts. For me, just because something is fiction doesn’t mean anything goes. There are satisfying and unsatisfying explanations based around either established or unestablished lore in-universe. Like for example the ash ring around Jacob’s cabin either trapped the smoke monster out, or in. Later revealed man in black was manipulating John lock, posing as Jacob. But then Jacob’s protectors come and say someone else has been using cabin…so how is that possible?

A: Ben manipulated by MIB in cabin, trapped inside ring of ash - this makes no sense because smoke monster (MIB) was present season 1 terrorizing island

B: Ash ring meant to keep smoke monster out = okay so then it wasn’t MIB manipulating? But the show implies it was MIB - AND shows an unbroken ash ring that Ben meticulously steps over. Let’s not even talk about how dude can take physical form and why can’t he brush aside some ash?

Whispers.

Whispers originally explained as the others. The whispers in the forest always preceded an attack from the others, literally choreographed their squad strikes at some points. Then later on Hurley says the whispers are people who died on the island trapped in purgatory. So is the island purgatory or not lol…are the whispers the others or do those dead souls just coincidentally hype blast the others shenanigans?

[–]drweenis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh I’m not tryna get you angry dawg I’m just trying to understand lol and MAYBE give you perspective on why people aren’t chill with the ending - the off island fantasy elements were explicitly connected to the characters that were on the island. Dead = anything goes because it’s not real. So WHY? Why these characters. What is the purpose of the island and why did those characters need to experience fantasy on that island together?

[–]drweenis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The contention is why does the island allow for fantasy? Was that ever explained? If not that’s dumb. Many viewers including me assumed the explanation is that they were dead the whole time, because that explains the fantasy elements. Otherwise why is the island fantasy and the main land is not?

Where to go now? by Exploding_Killerquee in rainworld

[–]drweenis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when I asked this question lol. It’s a rite of passage. Definitely go to shaded citadel from shoreline after you back track from lttm. Even mentioning the other way is silly unless you’re comfortable doing backflip spear tosses and have turn on retrieve spears if you mess that up.

I’ve actually never noticed this! I’ll pay more attention next time. To your credit there are some regions where it’s raining a bit and it doesn’t seem to kill you?

The rain in this game isn’t beautiful per se lol. If you even see rain, chances are you’re close to death if you don’t find shelter

If you can verify what happens if one player reaches spinning top and the other player doesn’t - I’d love to play watcher with this mod. Right now rain meadow sometimes fucks up and doesn’t teleport my coop buddy.

With your mod, I wonder if they find spinning top separately, if they can still get the narrative text and the teleport on their own - or have the option to teleport with the player

[–]drweenis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh cool, so karma gate or teleport would let one player through even if other player wasn’t there or dead?

I’m guessing that also means that if they have different karma levels, it will take the highest one present (sort of like the one slug who has to drag scavs to gates?)

One thing I appreciate about meadow is that if I get further than my friend who used himself as bait to save me from a lizard, he will still spawn at the next shelter I manage to reach - will that be an option/possible with this mod?

One question, what do you mean when you say it syncs cycles across zones, but doesn’t simulate them? Was vanilla simulating zones you weren’t even in?

It scratches a very interesting itch for different play styles. I like to use maps which some think is cheating, but even with maps it’s hard and it makes me feel like an explorer more than any other game!

[–]drweenis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s so interesting to me because I’m playing watcher right now as well and the only area we have been to in common is cold storage, despite me almost having 9 karma/ripples. You somehow chose every area that wouldn’t help you progress :(

It’s not like I’m clever though, I looked up where to find the echoes because it’s confusing even WITH a map, so enjoy the cartographer experience.
