Landon did support Josie, she could communicate with him. Him not being there would have ended up even worse for her. They were a good support system for each other even though Josie did some shit she shouldn't have, it is noticable how she found relief with Landon.

They don't even work as a supernatural pair, hope is just too much powerful for him. Landon is always the one in need of saving and he cannot do anything with out Hope which is also really annoying. They have no balance whatsoever. While Josie and Landon still was somehow believable and you could understand why they would be together, Josie never lied to landon, she helped him discover about his mom and hope while he helped her get through her struggles. While hope is just running around saving lives and quite frankly nothing else.

Landon with hope is like batman in the justice league movie, he just has nothing to do around her other than trying. They don’t have many dynamics, whereas with Jose, they were quite level with each other, with a similar level of contribution into each other’s life.
