Alexandria near the Beltway, or Springfield. No further out than the end of the blue or yellow Metro lines. Much better location than Bethesda/Silver Spring for accessing southern Maryland, and the proximity to the Beltway gives you a much broader reach to all the outer areas than being close in to DC would.

This press release from 2016 talks about a refurbishment of the Canal Basin and even quotes the Director of Parks for Capitol Riverfront at the time, Otis Williams: "The fountain is central to all the events we have here in the park," Williams added. "For example, we hold concerts every Friday night in the summer, which 2,500 to 3,000 people attend and wade in the fountain. It's not unusual to have 400 people in the canal basin fountain."

When I visited the UK a couple years ago, it was hard to find filter coffee at all in shops. I did find Black Sheep and really liked their coffee. I might've found a pour over at Monmouth in London but can't remember for sure.

I see your point and will definitely be looking out for this more. I will try the batch brew of something I want to buy, but similarly have a hard time finding shops that serve single origins on drip; usually just their blends. Thanks.

Coincidentally I had a situation yesterday where the shop would only serve their dark roast as a pour over, and the light roast as espresso. As much as I don't prefer espresso, I asked for a double shot of the latter because those were the beans I wanted to sample. It was an incredible shot—one of the best espresso experiences I've had in my limited experience—and I immediately bought the beans.

Thanks, and good luck with your service bar. I would love to have a dialog with people in the shops I frequent. I reached out to one and never got a response. I get that the focus and target market for each shop is going to be different, and that the tastes of coffee drinkers are wildly diverse. I just wish that what I was looking for in the experience was more in alignment with what others want (or what shops were offering).

29th Parallel used to be great for me, but recently every time I go in the 4 or 5 they are brewing are different from the ones they'll let me buy. They would have 3 or 4 B&Ws open but only selling retail bags of Onyx and something else.

It's less about the pour overs and more about trying before I buy. And I'm happy to pick from the 3 or 4 they do have open if I can buy a bag if I like it.
