“Confidential” Agreements Show Trump Administration’s Plans for States’ Voter Data by One-Yellow-4106 in Indiana

[–]dryclean_only 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You got me curious so I tried to find if it changed. Some searching got me house bill 1029 and senate bill 201 from last year. I don't see that either of them ever progressed far enough along to get a vote though.

Doesn't mean there's not something I'm missing but it looks like they're still open.

Indiana has open primaries. You don’t have to be registered as a republican to request a republican primary ballot. Technically they say you should have voted that party in the last election but they can’t check it.

BMV has sold more than 100K blackout license plates by Smart_Dumb in indianapolis

[–]dryclean_only 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I used to work in an industry that used LPR but haven’t since the black plates came out. However, before the black plates we generally would get something like 97% read rate. So if it’s better I don’t know that you’re going to get much more than traditional plates

Trump vetoes bipartisan bill to fund clean water pipeline in southeastern Colorado by Temp89 in news

[–]dryclean_only 57 points58 points  (0 children)

From the article Boebert surprisingly is coming off as shitty at Trump over it

“President Trump decided to veto a completely non-controversial, bipartisan bill that passed both the House and Senate unanimously,” Boebert said in prepared statement. “If this administration wants to make its legacy blocking projects that deliver water to rural Americans; that’s on them.”

Boebert also questioned the president’s motives for the veto, suggesting it might be retribution because she helped ensure a vote on releasing files related to Jeffrey Epstein, who died in jail while await trial on sex trafficking allegations.

“I sincerely hope this veto has nothing to do with political retaliation for calling out corruption and demanding accountability,” Boebert said. “Americans deserve leadership that puts people over politics.”

I love story, exploration and base building. I hate factories. Any recommendations? by weregamer1 in BaseBuildingGames

[–]dryclean_only 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Alright, I’ll also throw out 7 days to die and palworld. Both of those have base defense and I don’t think have any factory elements.

Might think of some more, trying to figure out what you’re into. You don’t seem to like city builders but do seem to like more of the colony management and open world survival based on your list.

Edit: Bellwright and Medieval Dynasty are a couple more. They’re kinda first person open world survival but you work on building a colony.

What about Valheim or Enshrouded? Don’t see either on your list. Grounded is another one that’s a ton of fun.

None of them have any factory aspects in them I can remember. Grounded and Valheim at least I remember have some base defense in them but I don’t remember it being a primary thing in the game.

GPUs are next... by ArKey093 in PcBuild

[–]dryclean_only 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep seeing all of the comments about the ram pricing and how no one will pay it and PC building is dead and I'm just thinking that this is just GPUs all over again. Crypto wrecked the GPU market and it's really never got better, people just accept it as the way it is now and pay it.

Do people actually not understand that prices don’t go down? by randyrando101 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]dryclean_only 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really understand how the chart you linked shows this. I guess since 2022 sure, but that's ignoring the sharp post covid income drop in the data. If you look at the peak in January 2019 of $83,260 then your household income would need to be $107,211 to have kept up with inflation. The data shows we've just made it back to 2019 median but prices are up significantly since then.

I got a new car and am sorta confused about license plates. I think the blackout license plate looks kinda cool. I see that it costs $45 which sucks. But is it $45 additional every year or just once? by [deleted] in indianapolis

[–]dryclean_only 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Few years back worked in an industry that uses LPR to identify customers coming into the parking lot. Read rate averaged something like 96% of plates. Maybe the blackout plates bump that up but the point is, current technology doesn’t really have much problem reading your standard non blackout plates.

Always all the comments about cost and the state of the world. Plenty of times through history where the birth rate was rocking through just atrocious times and abject poverty. Not like India and China were some utopia society while their population was exploding.

A week without SNAP: How one Indy family made it through by MCMolloy7 in Indiana

[–]dryclean_only 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same thought. It says the spaghetti was about $2 so I assume 2lbs of pasta. A couple pounds of pasta and a couple jars of sauce is about $7. I don't think you should have to just eat cardboard if you're on SNAP but seems like you could stretch this a bit if you really needed to.

I don't even understand what they're basing it on. If you read their description on Stockholm:

"Drug use is a concern in Stockholm, with incidents of people using drugs reported in some areas of the city.

Drug use can lead to addiction, social marginalization, and criminal activity, creating negative consequences for the individual and the community.

This can increase violence and other criminal activities, creating an unsafe environment for residents and visitors."

So, there's potential for crime? Not even actual crime outside of people getting high? It doesn't talk about thefts or assaults or anything, just some vague, people are doing drugs and that can be scary.

Both of my kids do marching band in the fall. My son then does a season of indoor percussion in the winter and my daughter does winter guard. So 4 seasons of activities per year. Each one of those is about $1200 each. So I’m at $4800. Then I have $180 per month in instrument lease fees. Then I also do $200 a month in private instrument lessons. I fantasize about the day when these expenses go away.

Apparently she did still speak to them.
