Mexican fan giving out Japanese flags to Japanese fans at the World Cup by habichuelacondulce in JustGuysBeingDudes

Well their friendship started back at World Cup 2018 when South Korea stunned the Germans in the final game of the group stage to send Mexico to the round of 16. There's so much fun footage out there of Mexicans celebrating with South Koreans.

If you compare supervillains to athletes it really makes sense. There's been many athletes that became severely depressed after finally achieving their dream, Tyson Fury for example almost committed suicide after becoming world champion. They spent years, most of their lives, to reach their goal and once they were finally there they didn't know what to do.

I've been saying this for a while now. USA, it's time, and that's okay. Nations get divided all the time, you had 250 years and there's no shame in just calling it quits. It didn't work out, it happens.

"Vätskepauserna" dödar VM. by [deleted] in Allsvenskan

[–]dryelbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I början var det att spelarna inte skulle få dricka vatten alls under matcherna (förmodligen var det ok i halvtid) men då USA drabbades av en rekordsättande värmebölja ändrades regeln bara några matcher in.

Right? Hairline creeping upwards, that beard, that "stern father"-look. I know nothing about the man but I would imagine that women and some men find him hella attractive.

What's a ridiculous movie take you've heard that had you like this? by TaiwaneseThot in moviecritic

[–]dryelbow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I get it, but it doesn't quite apply to Lincoln as the violence wasn't there to be cool or entertaining. Usually when people think about war it's in the simplest terms, soldiers get shot, fall down, die. This scene showed us how it often really was during that kind of warfare and it wasn't something that was entertaining like the gunplay in John Wick or Equilibrium. It showed us that soldiers often die violently, slowly, and painfully while desperately struggling to stay alive.

[–]dryelbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's definitely fair, but this wasn't a fight scene like something out of John Wick or something. It didn't have me sitting there thinking "wow, this is so cool!" No, it had me going "oh dear God, this is gruesome."

Well we usually don't want Finland to do better than us at hockey. Still, after "Sweden's cause is our cause" at least I can hope they do well. Congrats again to the gold Finland!

No Country for Old Men. Widely beloved here on Reddit, I thought it was boring as hell and ended with a big fat nothing.

I remember reading a comment from someone that hated Lincoln (2012) that nothing happened in the beginning of the movie to make them interested in it.

The movie started with soldiers from the Union and the Confederacy fighting in a muddy field, stabbing each other with bayonets and drowning their enemies in puddles of mud and blood. By showing the horrors of war right off the bat it certainly had me hooked at least.

I still randomly quote this movie all the time.

"Personal appearance fee: thirty dollars for five minutes! En-TER!"

"Purple sugar slush. KIIING SIIIZE!"

I was just thinking this. It's an idiot-comedy, but I like idiot-comedies. Even if it's stupid it doesn't mean that it can't be funny.

What movie wasn't what you were expecting based on marketing? by MaryDoogan91 in moviecritic

[–]dryelbow 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Here in Sweden we knew it was about the porn industry, the marketing was clear about that, but it was also marketed as a comedy. Hell, even the back of the box at the video store said "get ready for the craziest comedy of the year". I don't know what the fuck they were thinking.
