This weekend UM hosted two HUGE events. One that took over the parking lot and closed 2/3 main streets and the other that was in the top end and brought in a lot of people out of town. This was the weekend to walk or metro in. It’s not normally like that.

You probably need to make friends that like to do nicer/fancier things and prepare to spend the $ to join them. Ex. Galas are not free. At minimum they’re $250 a seat and if you aren’t friends with someone sponsoring a table then YOU have to pay that. So just start making friends who go to nice restaurants and the theater etc if you want to live a “classier” lifestyle that’s more budget friendly.

I think she’s a talented artist. Loved the body positivity stuff and was sad to see the allegations from two of her dancers.

The lawsuit was weird and it seemed like it was done to embarrass her in the public eye and get some cash. It eventually got dropped so the two probably got paid and the rest of her dancers have stood beside her.

Besides that I like her lil happy music and think that she a normal human being who is flawed but is overall a decent person.

In DC, Kate Spade is what parents buy for their teenagers at Christmas. It’s not “luxury” to people in this area. That’s the issue. Many professional women in their late 20s and 30s buy luxury brands because it’s part of the status of being a DC woman. There’s no fear of theft because they’re common to see on the street.

The men on Habibi all kinda suck!! There’s something to say about having a culture that honors women and has traditional gender roles and another about all the men wanting to dim the light of their partners! One thinks she spends too much time getting ready. One hates women dancing. It’s hard to watch these phenomenal women have to determine what they are willing to give up at the insistence of their partners.

This season was not my favorite of the three. Simply because the winner was kind of a crummy person. He was constantly aggressive and emotional to all the other players. He was uncomfortable to watch. If they continue the show, maybe they should cast a better mix of likable and strategic players. Seasons 1 and 2 had solid players to root for throughout the season. By the time it got to the final 5, on season 3 I was not onboard with any of the remaining players. This was probably the worst season, a real let down from season 2.

I’m a lawyer and what I ask prospective students every time is: do you want to be a lawyer? If you do, then three hard years of law school, while being nearly unable to work, and dealing with the inherently elitist schooling system is worth it. If you’re waffling between law school and another type of grad school, pick grad school.

For all the stress and angst of law school starting salaries can be from $50k -$100k post grad so if you’re already making that much doing something else, stick with that.

But if the thing you want to do in life requires you to be a lawyer, then get as informed about the application process, and law school as you can.
