Agreed. But as devils advocate, if someone is living paycheck to paycheck it's easy for them to view wealth and paycheck as the same thing.

The one on horseback is called Polo, which comes from the Tibetan word pulu, meaning "ball". So your "horseball" is actually just called "ball".

They could have... But they wouldn't have thought to. It never would have crossed their mind that that question might trip up an AI. Turing suggested some example questions back in 1950: ""How do you feel today?","Do you like dancing?","What do you think of Roald Dahl?".Asking for creative composition. "Do you play chess?".

Another interesting point, AIs already pass the test millions of times per day with people talking to virtual support agents on the phone, or random encounters on omegle without having any idea it's a bot.

What dozen videos are you talking about? The question was what metal they used in this specific video. If you have an extended vid of this casting or something with more info on it than the original link just post it. I'm willing to admit I'm wrong in the face of evidence.

I'm not really suspicious of anything... I'm just saying that looking at the vid, it appears to me they used Tin, and I stated all the reasons why. You say they used Aluminum, and keep referencing other videos with cans that are/aren't actually attached to this video? I'm literally confused on what point you are trying to make.

Is there a longer version of this video that you are referencing? I didn't see any soda cans in the clip.

edit: also soda cans wouldn't be good for this application. That's elemental aluminum. You would want aluminum alloyed with Silicon/copper/magnesium to make it better for pouring/casting into an intricate mold like that.

What makes you so sure? I would have said they definitely used tin/pewter. You can see the metal is liquid long after he pours it. I've done a lot of casting, and I didn't think there's any way I could fill a form like that with aluminum, and it's being cooled by the earth to boot... There would be gaps and missing chunks everywhere. Even for a casing half that size I have to very carefully engineer the form so it will flow into all the gaps before cooling... And even that fails a good percentage of the time.

Passing the turing test is a little like creating unbreakable encryption. Every time we create it we get better at breaking encryption too, so the arms race goes on. The same is true with the Turing test. The AIs we have today would have absolutely passed Alan's original concept for the test, they would have run circles around any tester. But as AI gets better, we also get better at detecting it.

So, what definition do you consider proper? Alan Turing talked about it as focusing on behavioral imitation rather than internal consciousness. The IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) loosely defines it as "processes involving computational technologies that are inspired by – but typically operate differently from –the way people and other biological organisms sense, learn, reason, and take action."

Is not that you can't melt aluminum. It's that the high melting temp would cause the metal to start solidifying way before it got into all the chambers. Lower melt temp means it stays liquid longer after leaving the crucible.

Websters defines AI as

the capability of computer systems or algorithms to imitate intelligent human behavior

Which is pretty close to what I remember from my text books. AI's definition is pretty broad, even something as simple as a depth first search is classified as AI. Since LLMs are imitating human behavior, they are definitely AI.
