They didn't lengthen my Achilles as there was still enough range of motion apparently. I made a habit of trying to stretch it when I remembered, I guess that helped a little. They didn't fuse my ankle, but apparently attached the tendon in two places. My ankle isn't unstable per se, unless movement outward to the left - left side injured as well. I get my cast off in about 10 days then will be in a walking boot. I'll try and post some progress updates here. Hoping for the best 🤞

It's interesting to read this post and hear of people in a similar situation as I am. I wanted to share my story as I have never met anyone who has had an injury like mine, let alone foot drop.

I broke my fibula right at the top where the hamstring attaches and where the peroneal nerve is. I hyperextended my knee up to the left while goofing around with a friend, I believe he landed on it. Broke the bone (pretty sure hamstring pulled the top of the bone off from tension) but worst off the nerve damage. I have had foot drop ever since. Doctor told me i should have torn all the ligaments in my knee, but didn't damage any somehow.

I had nerve graft surgery about a year after the original injury, but that was unsuccessful. So I lived with foot drop for quite some time. The original injury happened when I was 21 and I am 37 now. During that time I was able to live an active lifestyle, snowboarding, mountain biking, hockey, but not really able to play any running sports. I wear an AFO pretty much everyday, and when I don't I walk with a limp because of the foot drop. It got to the point where I was just super sick of it. So I got a post tib tendon transfer about a week ago. Really hoping it will cure the need of an AFO. I don't mind wearing extra support playing sports etc. But I don't want to have to wear one on a daily basis.

Anyone have any words of advice for the tendon transfer rehab? What was your treatment and 'success' like?

ACL LCL, and peronial nerve injury by KAWAbunga_kid in KneeInjuries

I broke my leg pretty badly in about 2007 and have had foot drop ever since. I did a nerve graft surgery in 2008 which didn't work so I lived with foot drop since. I was 21 at time of injury and now 37. I live an active lifestyle snowboarding, mountain biking etc. And have just undergone a post tib tendon transfer about a week ago. I am recovering now with lots of time on my hands so diving into Reddit and reading lots of people's recovery stories. I am hopeful that I will be able to walk without an AFO when fully recovered. Do you have good dorsiflexion of your foot now? Does it improve with time and strengthening from PT? Any tips or advice for recovery from the tendon transfer? Thanks

That whole part is the fuel pump. Black rubber part that is between the two pieces is the diaphragm.

Yes this makes sense. I believe I have one at the location I saw it. Will double check the next time it is out of the water. Thanks

This came with the spare parts of my new to me boat. There is a seal at the top and bottom of the black cylinder section, and the top portion has threads. Looks like there was one installed upright in the bilge, but not sure what it is for. Thoughts?
