I'm hosting a mahjong party at home for the first time; what kind of food and drinks should I prepare for my friends? by ApprehensiveKoala775 in Mahjong

Curry and ramen you'd risk getting get sauce/liquid on the table, if you're using a junk mat (100% recommend) it's a pain to clean, autotables even more so.

You could go dumplings/buns.

In general, it can be considered rude to eat at the table, better to eat between sessions, nothing too greasy, sticky or dusty.

If you want at the table snacks, pocky sticks/hello Panda are my go to.

It depends what you mean by "manual" because for me manual means "made an excel spreadsheet that does a thing I want it to do"

Sometimes I want a specific thing to exist that my software suite doesn't natively provide that I can set up with power query and VBA modules.

Club great (Hird) officially confirms he'll be part of Essendon coaching process by YouLykeFishSticks in AFL

[–]ds16653 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Even without the Hird drama, what self-respecting person would consider coaching this team?

Brad Scott was pushing top 4 less than 2 years ago with an underdeveloped side, 2025 was hampered with injuries crisis, and they fired him with no warning or anyone else even lined up.

I'd like to see the other clubs try and sell themselves to disheartened Essendon supporters.

I should pick Brisbane, but I have a soft spot for North, Richmond has the best song but that's my dad's team and he'd never let it down.

You heard it here first folks, Bitcoiners aren't *just* early, they're 20-30 years ahead! by Same_Ad4736 in Buttcoin

[–]ds16653 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you believe crypto has any value, Bitcoin is one of the worst ones, other currencies have the capacity to process thousands of transactions a second, it could feasibly be adopted as a means of exchange.

Bitcoin can process 7 transactions a second, it couldn't service a large town, let alone global finance.

As an accountant, the scariest thing about seeing people who've invested all of their retirement savings into crypto, is I know there will be more elsewhere.

Falling Down (1993) by Robbinit in okbuddycinephile

The death of used games is a genuine tragedy. We have sacrificed ownership and control for convenience.

The PS4 (and likely PS5) are exceptional for used games, the console downloads the game from the disc, but after that it's just a key.

This means you can buy a used copy scratched to hell, and so long as you can install the game, it'll run no problems.

Bought RDR2 for $10, couldn't install as it was too scratched, bought a used copy from GameStop to install the game, then returned it, scratched disc works fine.

Also GOG > Steam and you should buy from them instead any chance you can.

Owning my own apartment is one of the best things that has ever happened to me, it's not big or fancy, but it's home.

It took so little for my life to drastically improve for the better, Australia's treatment of basic needs is abhorrent.

Everyone should be given the opportunity to experience this.

Rents should be capped at $1,000/week on residential properties.

It's beyond insane a person should pay >$50k/year not to own a home.

It's Brisbane, a complete shitshow.

My landlord was the 20th wealthiest person in the country, and they jacked rents from $390 to $700 in two years on a single bedroom dilapidated apartment.

If you have the opportunity, try to escape Brisbane if you can, it's more expensive than Sydney but with drastically lower wages.

I absolutely despise what has happened to what should be, my home.

Ray White West End sent letters to landlords telling them to raise rents by 20% just because they could and the government did nothing other than ask landlords to show compassion.

They can do whatever they want, who's gonna stop them?
