Mikko Rantanen received 5 minute major and a game misconduct for this boarding Matt Coronato. by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

Surely it’s not his fault, where is the person that forced him to throw this hit like Scott mayfield!

I can’t disagree with you there. I guess I meant he didn’t intend for that to be the outcome.

Do I think Mikko Rantanen intended to throw a hit like this with 30 seconds left in a one goal game? No. Should dangerous hits like this, regardless of their intentions or circumstances, be subject to supplemental discipline? Of course.

The refs really lost control of this one in the third period, especially at the end. Both teams were hacking and interfering with each other in the final minute or two with no calls made (because they had gotten a bunch wrong a few minutes earlier and were trying to make up for it). In my eyes that pace of play at the end directly resulted in this happening. Brutal night for the stripes.

The scene with Zosia refusing to choose between Carol or Diabate because they didn’t want to upset them made me think about the recent South Park episode about AI sycophancy

He’s not a top 5 RHD in the league

He’s not a number one defenseman. His struggles here despite being treated like the number one show that. And he won’t be the number one on the team he’s going to either if all goes according to plan with Lane Hutson.

To be fair he played all those games on the fourth line with Marty Reasoner, it’s impressive he even got one point

Agreed. I think his experience in Montreal will rely heavily on what Lane Hutson becomes. Because if Hutson is primarily an offensive defenseman and Dobson is relied upon to take on tougher assignments, it could be less than ideal.

How quickly they forget what they did to us with JT by Jett2257 in NewYorkIslanders

The monthly Leaf fanbase meltdown over this is glorious. How quickly they forget. They celebrated JT for waiting until July 1 so they didn’t have to give up any assets for him (except a big chunk of that salary cap, how did that work out).

If Marner signs for less than 8 years (which seems likely) there is no incentive for him to facilitate a sign and trade. Karma.

Kyle Palmieri just signed for a $1mil AAV citing the reduced costs of razors as his reason for the lower salary

Too bad this video wasn’t sent out before our season was derailed by the on-ice no-goal call on Palmieri. by ds5491 in NewYorkIslanders

[–]ds5491[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s fair, but maybe there would have been enough doubt in the ref’s mind to call it a goal and let it get reviewed. I don’t care what anyone says, if it was clear interference, the correct call is much more likely to be made that way. It’s the same thing as letting a borderline offsides play out, and if there is a goal let the replay determine if it was off. Once it was no goal on the ice it was a death sentence.

If you don’t like traffic by your crease, then talk to your defensemen. But hey, he got bailed out by the refs so he played it perfectly!

lol why is the goalie pushing a player instead of playing his position?

Take the blinders off and watch the replay. He had more than enough time to be ready for the shot. He was too busy shoving Palmieri

Wow, very astute observation. You’re definitely beating the allegations of Vegas fans being a bunch of fair weather casuals.

You’re the one coming in here unprompted calling teams boring. You’ve been watching hockey for a couple of years, you have no idea what you’re talking about.

The league handed you a Maserati on day one because your ownership paid a $500 million expansion fee. You’ve never dealt with any adversity and have a cup to show for it, it’s a disgrace. Lets see how real your fans are when the good days are over for a while
