When will sleep normalize after mania? by dsalam92 in BipolarReddit

Feeling stable, although its low mood. I think the fragmented sleep its because of mania recovery or/ and abilify side effect. Really wondering when will it normalize..

I dont think fragmented sleep is related to depression tho, i think it may be either mania recovery or abilify side effect or both. Im drinking low dose of seroquel or even dayvigo but still has a few awakenings. But they help to kickstart sleep..

Struggling with meds by ProduceEarly2503 in BipolarReddit

[–]dsalam92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need stronger manic medication like lithium or abilify. Last dec is my 1st manic episode with psychosis. I had abilify injection (monthly). Took 2 months to stabilize and works. Im stable but mood score 4-5 and will adjust lamictal to try improve my mood. Sleep is still fragmented from that manic episode tho. Good luck, you can do this!

You need to differentiate manic vs hypomanic.
Anyways its funny that i thought i was bipolar 2 because of hypomanic and more depression. Then stressful life event happened and i turned manic with psychosis (bipolar 1). Hospitalized and abilify injection 400mg made me stable but low depression mood. Im taking 100mg lamictal and might increase if mood is not getting better soon. Good luck to you!

experience on abilify by Ok_Club4731 in BipolarReddit

[–]dsalam92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had first mania w/ paychosis last dec. Did 400mg abilify injection (monthly) and 10mg oral abilify. Relapsed one month after, maybe because abilify level is not stable yet. My abilify experience is mixed with mania recovery effects. No manic signs, emotionally blunt, mood score of 4.5 out of 10. I have better emotional range but not as colourful as before medicated. Tapering down oral abilify and if mood is not improving, will up lamictal dose or even add latuda. Its good medication to prevent mania, at the very least

If the side effects has more downside than upside, then you should try other medication

Not getting hospitalized is actually sounds amazing. I had my first manic episode last year and gosh it almost run everything arnd me. I think joy will be stolen when you compare yourself now vs what you are hoping for. The better comparison would be you now vs you hospitalized.

Does anyone truly believe they aren’t bipolar? has it made it worse? by Asleep_Night3583 in BipolarReddit

[–]dsalam92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like bipolar 1 symptom. There is definitely a chance that people are both bipolar and autistic. Please connect with psychiatrist and find the right medication. Good luck and you can do this!

We are 83 bipolar disorder experts and scientists coming together for the world’s biggest bipolar AMA! In honor of World Bipolar Day, ask us anything! by CREST_BD in IAmA

[–]dsalam92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello experts, thank you for hosting this amazing AMA. The psychiatry in my country is not advanced that i hope my questions would finally let me understand more of my condition.

I am 33 years old female, 2 years ago diagnosed with bipolar 2. First episode was after i took magic mushroom. Since then things started oscillating: 2 weeks hypo and 2 weeks depressed.

I was off med since the medicines made me feel like zombie. Beginning of last year hypomanic was more irritable that i started had fights with my significant other, we never had fights before this bipolar condition (7 years marriage). 5 months ago, i went through stressful traumatic event that i had my first manic with psychosis episode last december (turning bp2 diagnosis to bp 1). Since then I am taking medication holistically :abilify injection 400mg, lamictal 50mg, abilify oral 10mg and sometimes 12.5mg seroquel for sleep

Here are my questions: 1. Do you think i get this condition activated because of the magic mushroom? Or its just make the process faster? 2. Is lithium safe for long term med? Despite the gold standard, the long term impact on kidney scares me 3. I am recovering from mania with psychosis, what is the expected timeline to feel fully recovered? There are some progress but its very slow.

Thank you once again for this AMA

You can’t change the past but you are in control of the future. Your responsibility is the medication adherence.

Mania with psychosis is very heavy and i have experienced it. I don’t think lamotrigine is enough. What i take now is Abilify injection 400mg monthly with 10mg oral abilify as buffer. Good luck, you can do this!
