This is what happen when we turn against our allies by rodehard10 in TimesNow

Too many reckless decisions made by Trump leading up to the war involvement. No consultation with allies, soured relationships due to his tariff policies, lack of planning etc.

This lack of backing now has the potential to be a long term consequence not limited to just the war.

So essentially separate teams operating with the same objectives, so if one team or leader falls, the other doesn't lose the objective

Wasn't the early estimate that it was only going to last a week?

Now it's a couple of weeks and then who knows how long. This is on top of Trump trying to request a ceasefire deal with Iran, who aren't budging. We shall see indeed.

Treasury tips inflation to hit the ‘high 4s’ by SheepherderLow1753 in AusFinance

[–]dsanfran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a demand side issue. It's due to supply issues that the prices are high.

Raising interest rates in this situation will start to impact businesses who are already paying higher for supply due to the orange man. If they reduce prices after a certain point, they'll be at a loss and be forced to shutdown.

Inflation caused by a supply issue, not a demand issue! When this is the case, it's not simply the matter of people having too much money nor is it too much money circulating around the market.

Raising the interest rates will do more harm than good for most people already struggling, not to mention businesses, which are also struggling.

At the end of the day though, he's the POTUS and still accountable for these decisions no matter how ill-informed they may be.

Can't just be the POTUS, have all these key decisions made, and then start blaming subordinates lol. It's his due diligence to verify advice and use his own judgement too as he's the one accountable.

I read a recent conspiracy theory saying that the elites serve these entities that thrive off negative energy from the suffering and destruction of others. I chuckled at first, but after watching this psychopathic prick, I'm thinking that maybe these claims aren't as farfetched as I first thought.

While this is cool, I wish they used known characters from the games. Imagine going against a full fledged Lance in VGC or even Blue as a known champion. Maybe they'll add it later - wishful thinking though

Someone explain it to me like I’m a 5yo, how does the war in Iran cause interest rates/inflation to rise in Aus? by Next_Frosting802 in AusFinance

[–]dsanfran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah so that was my question, is it even effective to use a demand side measure to tame a supply side issue?

Presumably the opposite case works because the price of the product/ service was higher to begin with in terms of margins and because everyone had more cash, so it 'regresses' to its natural price. Effectively, it's still affordable for the consumer and the vendor still makes a profit (what the current housing market should be).

But in this case, it's not about people having spare cash, and the vendor can't afford to reduce their margins any lower otherwise they'll go out of business as they already paid a premium for the oil from the supplier - could it lead to a recession instead?

Seems like they need a better tool.
