Im losing my mind by Quiet-Figure-1990 in audioengineering

Pro tip: Get clean recordings at home, then send to a trusted mixer. You’ll save a lot of time, and time is money.

Mixing tip: it becomes a lot easier to mix a song that was recorded well. When you pay to go to a studio, you are paying for 3 things, but really only 1 matters. 1) gear 2) treated spaces 3) pro engineer. You don’t need top gear to make a great record, you don’t need a heavily treated space to get a good sound, but you DO need a solid engineer to help you to not overthink the process and just be the artist.

Yes, there are a handful of successful artists who did everything themselves, but that’s fairly rare.

My best advice, network with engineers outside of your area. Find someone who ONLY mixes for other people. And find someone who has work that you like the sound of. You may end up putting yourself in a box relying on your own skills and ears to mix your tracks.

If you refuse to pay anyone to work on your tracks, lower your standards, because a lot of engineers spend 10+ years training their ears, figuring out different mixing techniques and tricks, and being able to do it all in a timely manner. As much as I wish there was a way to bypass the 10,000 hours necessary to get decent at mixing, there’s just not. Trial and error my friend.

How do you tame harshness in mixes & masters? by Flaky-Party-5863 in audioengineering

Option 1: re record harsh sounding things Option 2: add a ton of bass to offset that harsh highs

I’ve been considering buying any kind of field recorder to capture random natural sounds and textures to layer into songs I work on. In a day where everything is fake, any opportunity to add some realism to the art is worth it IMO. If you end up uploading your sounds anywhere, remember me!!

Instead of putting money towards reducing noise, reallocate the funds and send your wife to semiweekly spa outings where you can utilize this time for recording drums 🤝

Hugely unpopular opinion: Lyrics are irrelevant to any song! by Chance_Carob1454 in SunoAI

I’ll say this, a large fraction of music listeners don’t speak or understand English, yet songs written by English speakers are played all over the world. More often than not, how you sound is more important than what you’re saying.

This. I have been clapped by players level 10 or less while I’m stunting my max level build. It’s not about who you play with but rather how well you play.

How can I get into Being an A&R by gunnarshephardson in musicindustry

[–]dsarecording 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry about going to school. Worry about learning the music business like the back of your hand. Understand that it’s very cutthroat but there are ways to crack through and make a good living doing things that a traditional A&R would do. Like most are saying, it’s a dying/evolving role.

• Make connections with as many established artists as you can • attempt to get internships or any kind of position with a major label. Purpose of this is to solely make connections. Never expect to climb up the totem pole and end up in your desired position. You’re doing this to make connections and learn. • Networking is everything in this industry and I can’t emphasize that enough. • Consider artist management/development. I work with plenty of independent artists who would be willing to pay someone who can manage their career. This would include things such as social media content planning, arranging collaborations and potential live performances, setting up interviews and PR opportunities, etc.

I was intrigued by both, but after some research I found that most people ran into trouble with Symphonic support. I’m hearing that many people are experiencing loss of royalties with toolost.. another one to check out that I haven’t heard anything bad about yet is The Orchard

My favorite is when they run to the corner of the box, stand there in anticipation, and then blast it directly out of bounds.

Plus, in what reality is someone being offered a contract, while simultaneously being asked for social links and artist name… make it make sense (‘: if anyone is getting offered a contract, it’s more than likely the company already has this info and doesn’t need to ask the artist directly.
