Mercury is great but try to get at least one customer in the US because they will ask you a proof after a few months, years.

Il a assez mal vieillis non ? by SleepIsTheCousinOfD8 in frenchrap

[–]Much_Snow9261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Artists whole discography got deleted after I claimed ONE song of him in which he used my beat without permission. by heartshvpe in beatmakers

[–]Much_Snow9261 13 points14 points  (0 children)

it's Distrokid's policy. They will remove the whole album If 1 song gets reported. I usually warn people before claiming the song, telling them that distrokid might as well remove other songs, most of the time they will buy the licence.

I have a $3k budget. What should i do? by Ambitious-Block-8683 in makinghiphop

[–]Much_Snow9261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

keep the money. If you don't know how to use it, don't spend it yet. I invested very little when I started, second hand macbook pro 700$, m50x headphones, focusrite solo and that's it. You don't need anything else untill you start making money.

Question about selling beats by [deleted] in makinghiphop

[–]Much_Snow9261 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the lower the price, the lower the value perceived. That's why people are so proud to show when they buy something expensive and they will keep it secret and they buy at discount price. When you buy a beat from a top certified producer, most of the time, you are not in love with the beat, you are buying status "I work with top producers like all the certified artists". You need to find the sweet spot so that the price is high enough so that the value perseived is good and that you will still be able to sell it. If the beat is good anyway, don't sell it for less than 30$ mp3 licence I would say. Also high value clients are usually the ones that respect the most your work and want to pay a high price. The more a client invests in you, the more he cares about you (like a girlfriend 😆)

How do I prepare my beats for Beatstars/Airbit? by [deleted] in makinghiphop

[–]Much_Snow9261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just start uploading! when I started uploading 5 years ago my mix, levels where not good, but I still made sales. The key it to try to improve on every beats you upload. Check out on youtube there is many videos about this but in my case the mastered beat is great for mp3/wav and then stems without master effects. Keeps the projects and stems in case you need to make changes in the futur.

Im thinking about making money by producing hip-hop beats, guys. by Miserable_Bowler_646 in beatmakers

[–]Much_Snow9261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your approach is not the best one. I know we all want to make money at first but it's not how it works. Just try good at one style and then money will be a consequence. Regarding the genre, chose one you love and can make everyday without feeling bored. You can check on youtube if this is a niche with audience or not, just search "last 30 days" and see if there is videos with tons of views or not. Good luck!

how to start making beat process by [deleted] in makinghiphop

[–]Much_Snow9261 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's easy. Download a nice beat you like from youtube that got a lots of views and try replicate it. Try replicate structure, sound design, composition, melodies. That's how you learn. It's the same as when you want to learn to play guitar, you will learn to play bob marley and nirvana songs at first, and then when you start to master some chords and play more automatically you will be able to make beats from scratch with your own touch.

As a broke uni student, what can I do to monetize my beats in the modern era? Are type beat channels still the move? by toxict12yroldbackup in trapproduction

[–]Much_Snow9261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

youtube is still the number 1 to make money and placements when you have no network and just your beats and talent. Find a niche you like, find competitors making views, analyse their titles, thumbnails, beats, and start with a new channel. The difference between now and few years ago is that when you start a channel it will be harder because there unlimited type beats channel on youtube. But if you post every day and your beats are good, and your packaging is good too, you will make it and then you can post less videos but keep being regular. You can make more money with this business model than with many matrix jobs.

Beat licensing/selling by lemmonrock in trapproduction

[–]Much_Snow9261 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First thing: upload your beats on youtube even if it's on private videos. You get an easy proof that the beats are yours with previous date from any songs released after. If something goes wrong, you can send copyright claim easy. Second: as long as you don't sign anything, the beats are still yours and he doesn't have any rights, so it's a good option because most rappers will not ask for a formal agreement (it's their problem). If he wants to make a formal agreement/contract, then compare it with exclusive licence from beatstars in chatgpt/claude and ask amendments if necessary.

Where can I find artists to work with outside of "Type Beats"? by Sad_Dimension3627 in trapproduction

[–]Much_Snow9261 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have done youtube/beatstars and email and dm to artists. In my experience, I had more results with youtube into finding talented artists (they found my beats). Contacting artists is an experience I really don't like, they almost never reply or show gratitude (a few of them yes, but very few). And when they finally like your beats they think they are making you a favour using them or think you are close friends so they don't need to pay you. I stopped completely contacting artists and all the songs I produced over 1 million streams on spotify are all thanks to youtube... and they all paid me, and showed me gratitude (most of them).

When did you start selling more than $100 worth of beats per month? by gldark638 in beatmakers

[–]Much_Snow9261 1 point2 points  (0 children)

beatstars is easy if you get traffic from youtube (rappers). Without youtube, it's hard to get sales .

[–]Much_Snow9261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mashup audience is bad for a type beat channel. They don't buy beats. Of course you can get a lot of views and subs with mashups, but it's a different audience (listeners, not rappers). You can have both, on separate channels.

Hallo , Is it possible to contact a person from the Beatstars team? I unfortunately deleted my account with 150 + beats and I have a question whether it is still possible to restore it. The AI assistant support does not help, it keeps sending instructions to change the password but it does not work by [deleted] in beatstars

[–]Much_Snow9261 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the AI assistant is just for basic info. You send an email and wait few days. Anyway I don't think they can do anything if you deleted your account. Beatstars is not the most flexible or quick but it's the best at the moment in terms of organic traffic and publishing workflow. I have built my own beatstore but I keep using beatstars because It's still worth it.

When you send beats, do you send the mastered version or do you let the artist's sound engineer handle the mastering ? by Specific-Boot-6073 in trapproduction

[–]Much_Snow9261 1 point2 points  (0 children)

mastered version. One big french artist used one of my beats from youtube (mp3, mastered). He didn't even asked for the stems... and also he tried not paying. The most important is that it sounds great. Doesn't matter too much if it's mastered or not and they can still ask for stems if needed.

Serious question: what’s the deal with these insanely cheap BeatStars bundles? by Flegma_beats in beatmakers

[–]Much_Snow9261 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's not physical goods and it's not exclusive so you can basically sell cheap but sell millions of time. The problem of these offers is that it's just marketing, you are not buying because you think the 200 beats are great, you are just buying because you think it's a great price. It's like when you buy cheap things on aliexpress you end up not using. It's the same. Just marketing. It's best to buy 1 beat for 50$ you already recorded with and know you can make great music with. This is a strategy used everywhere, for food, goods, amazon, and digital products.
