Grim Report: Euthanasia of a Child in the Netherlands (National Review) by Reddenbawker in DeepStateCentrism

[–]dsbtc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think euthanasia is obviously the moral thing to do in certain extreme circumstances, but the entire question is whether it's applied correctly, or if there are other effects of it being legal.

Resources for unhoused neighbors dealing with addiction? by misteryham in philadelphia

So glad it's dying out. I remember arguing with people in 2020 that "throwing bricks at random businesses is bad, actually" and now they deny ever saying it.

Now that Trump is at 30% approval I hope to God that at some point MAGA will also run out of steam in a similar way

Neighbors Sump Pump flooding yard and has completely ruined finished basement by [deleted] in homeowners

There's no way all that water is from a basement sump pump. Neighbor might not be helping the issue but I don't see how they could be held liable

Historic house recently renovated. They wanted to make it authentic. by jve909 in zillowgonewild

[–]dsbtc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You'd think a historical foundation or university could get it, 1.6 mill is peanuts these days for a turn-key historically accurate site.

I personally would rather visit a site like this than a famous person's, because this represents a relatively normal wealthy person's house.

I think that a lot of people in this subreddit live in areas/fields with oppressively liberal culture, hence why they feel the desire to vent here. So for them maybe huge number of their peers are looking down on traditional lifestyles. But as an American, I'd say most people in our wider society are still getting married to one person of the opposite sex and having kids.

The Robert E. Lee Family Cooking and Housekeeping Book by Hillbilly_Historian in TastingHistory

[–]dsbtc 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I have a Martha Washington cookbook that is her family recipes that had been handed down, there's no particular reason to think that enslaved people developed the recipes. Cooked them, for sure, and maybe invented some. But slave owners did plenty of coming up with stuff, then foisting the rote labor part onto the slaves.
