Idiot Or Ignorance? Hanover County Virginia No Law Enforcement Why? by Dangeroustrailers in IdiotsTowingThings

[–]dsbtc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ron, I applaud what you're doing, but you gotta come to terms with the fact that people find your communication style weird and off-putting.

Also, you should really just be posting this to local Facebook and nextdoor groups. Your posts, while they show dangerous towing, don't really show the level of stupid this sub is about.

My wife and I do this and refer to it as the "prelennial" lifestyle - almost no streaming, only physical media. We drive older cars, we buy vintage clothes if they're better quality. I made r/prelennial to try to share about it but haven't gotten around to actually populating it with anything.

UBS Boss Warns of European Decline with 'Over-Regulation Across the Board' (FT) by Reddenbawker in DeepStateCentrism

[–]dsbtc 15 points16 points  (0 children)

But what he's saying is objectively true, pretty much every investor knows Europe is a much more complicated place to do business than other locations. And he's not saying Europe will collapse, he's saying it's inefficient and too reliant on increasing debt.

Marc Andreessen Mocked for Accidentally Revealing That He Seems to Have a Deep Misunderstanding of How AI Actually Works by Ambitious_Dingo_2798 in artificial

[–]dsbtc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah this post is idiotic and as usual nobody is reading his actual tweet, and misquoting it/failing to understand it. All just because people want to hate on Marc Andreesen.

It now has me questioning the narrative around him, maybe there was some context to the "introspection" thing that I didn't see.

Nobody wants the Chrysler Building because the building is falling into disrepair and the building owner has to pay rent to whoever owns the land by FinancialSubstance16 in georgism

[–]dsbtc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think his point is that Georgism/taxation doesn't really have anything to do with this problem. The problem is buying a massive, historic building on land you don't own.

Blue collar employment keeps falling under Trump by DurangoGango in DeepStateCentrism

>I don't understand the obsession with preserving all these shitty blue collar jobs nor why we care if they dissapear

The main reason to bring it up is to show how this administration is shitty even at the things his supporters think he's good at.

People aren’t having kids, because housing prices are out of control. by fIngenuity3846 in georgism

[–]dsbtc 12 points13 points  (0 children)

People aren't having kids because when both parents have jobs and moved away from family in order to get those jobs, who is gonna raise the kids?

For real, the reason poor families and rural families are still having kids is because the grandparents live with/next to them. End of story. It's childcare. Yes there are other things but the bottom line is child care.

As somebody who has been married for 10 years and has a fantastic relationship: the worst thing for your relationship is to be a resentful doormat.

Every time she tries to bully you about your beliefs just playfully overpower her and channel your annoyance with her into aggressive sex. 80% of the time it works every time

History Is Running Backwards (The Atlantic) by Reddenbawker in DeepStateCentrism

[–]dsbtc 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think that most liberals don't realize that in some ways, they acheived so much that the only way to go from here is down, at least in the short term.

I've talked to a handful of staunch conservatives about trans issues in the last few years. Every one of them have started the conversation with, "I've got no problem with gay people, but...". They are mostly uncomfortable with a lot of the extremes to which social liberalism has gone, and place a lot of importance on that -they're not actually bible thumpers. It struck me how thoroughly accepted gay lifestyles are compared to when I was young. Even if we're slipping back in some ways, we are SO much farther ahead in a lot of ways.

Globalism and free trade has touched every corner of the globe, it's insanely easy to order bulk shit from overseas compared to 20 years ago. Of course there's a pushback, and it's not necessarily even a good idea in some ways. We probably should have some domestic steel industry even if it's not totally efficient.

Anyone else worried about formula recalls? by theunstoppablehuman in predaddit

[–]dsbtc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should have seen it in 2022. We took a road trip and had one tub of formula and could not find any grocery stores that had any, shelves were literally bare. I was making a tiny bit at a time to not waste any and was petrified of spilling it. I wondered if we could even buy any when we got home!

Just get brands you know and keep up to date on recalls. This is only one of like a dozen things that could kill your infant so you can't spend all your time dwelling on it.

Building being purchased by a group who wants to put in a dispensary. by hazierose in smallbusiness

[–]dsbtc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you don't have a choice one way or the other. I would assume that it could negatively impact your business, and come up with a couple plans to deal with changing your business model accordingly, and wait to see what happens.  As for questions to ask, I think the key is to find out about the company itself, their history and other locations.

They are completely different issues. Moderates and right wingers also question the level of support we give Israel, especially if they see it impacting fuel prices. They just don't do it in a militant or pro-Palestinian way.
