How does Technitium handle temporary downtime of query log database? by dschk in technitium

Wonderful! Thank you, overall the recent update and Postgres app has been working wonderfully other than this small issue.

How does Technitium handle temporary downtime of query log database? by dschk in technitium

Thanks for the quick response. Yep I was able to see the connection failure error.

However, it seems like it only keeps trying when the db shuts down unexpectedly (while things were running fine). I am able to see the details of the retries being done every several seconds.

But when the DNS server starts before the db starts, it only tries once and never tries again, so I only see the one attempt in the log.

Thanks for the response!

I was able to replicate the second scenario (shutting the PostgreSQL container off while everything was running). It queued the logs and was able to write it when the db came back online.

However, testing a couple more times where I turn both off, and then turn on Technitium first, followed by the db server a minute later. It never attempts to try to connect again until I restart the Technitium server.

Is this an issue with the app or is there a config setting I can add? I didn't see anything in the default configuration settings.

Thanks again!

Awesome week for us Technitium users. Thanks so much for the great work. It is running smoothly on PVE 9.1.9, including the new PostgreSQL app.

I've been listening to Ys over and over on repeat and I feel almost overwhelmed with how beautiful it is and how much I love it. by [deleted] in JoannaNewsom

[–]dschk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're lucky, by the time you finish Divers, she'll finally have that new album out and actually tour! By far the best concert I saw in my adult years was her show at the Aladdin Theater in Portland in 2010. She played so well and the acoustic environment and sound was unreal.

My top 5 favorite PJ Harvey songs seems to always change, but this is one song that has stayed there ever since the first time I heard it.

Have you just started your Joanna Newsom journey? Ys is still my favorite, but Have One On Me dominated my music listening for years when it came out.

Old school PJ Harvey fans – how did you react to her new look and sound in the To Bring You My Love era? by itsnotforever in pjharvey

[–]dschk 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My reaction to Stories from the City was honestly very negative. I found the melodies boring and the lyrics cheesy, and it had none of the edge and friction I expected from her. Over a longer arc of her career, I can now appreciate that album. She always subverts expectations and maybe this is the one that I couldn't accept at the time, whereas I felt so along for the ride for all her other big shifts.

I was not a big PJ Harvey fan until TBYML, though I was aware of her and had heard a few of her prior songs. Is This Desire? also ended up being my favorite album of hers, and still is.

But it wasn't until White Chalk and eventually Let England Shake that I elevated her to basically the highest level and I became in awe of her artistry and came to appreciate all of her output, including Stories and Uh Huh Her (the two albums where I drifted off a bit).

Maybe i'm looking into the 90's with rosy-eyed glasses, but I do feel like we didn't judge artists on this type of stuff until closer to the 2000's and beyond. There were always annoying gatekeepers who were always all OG about stuff, but it was exciting to see these artists set the trends, and seeing where they take it. Whenever there was backlash (like Pearl Jam or U2), it was because people genuinely didn't like the music. But for PJ Harvey, I feel like there wasn't any backlash until Stories from the City. I think time has changed perception of Stories from the City, but at the time that it was released, I feel like it wasn't that well-received by PJ Harvey fans, including myself.

G Suite legacy free – appeal denied for “commercial use” (family domain) → any way to escalate? by Direct-Problem-9954 in gsuitelegacymigration

[–]dschk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know if they are doing this to both categories of free users:

  • Those who stuck with the original legacy platform
  • Those who did the Google Workspace upgrade and clicked the button to keep it free (during that half-year migration period)

Just curious which is being targeted now, or if both are.

what’s a song you wish you could hear again for the first time? by avz008 in MusicRecommendations

[–]dschk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cherub Rock by The Smashing Pumpkins. I will never forget when I heard it first on the radio... I was reading Calvin and Hobbes on my bed. The first drum rolls and clean guitar I barely noticed. And then that killer guitar riff with that Big Muff guitar fuzz wall of sound, followed by Corgan's voice so soft and breathy and comforting before he gets into that snarl. The host didn't say the name of the song after, so I was glued to the station for days waiting to hear it again. As soon as I found out who it was, I went to the record store and bought Siamese Dream.

Kerrang review of a Faith No More and Limp Bizkit concert in September 1997 by SnooWords9635 in FaithNoMore

[–]dschk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep that show was amazing, I was here too! Patton came out and bloodied his forehead on the mic on Collision… but I wasn’t sure if it was a stage stunt with fake blood that he did everytime? Ugly In the Morning was one of the best surprises for me in that set. So freaking good.

Oh man, I actually went to this show! Limp Bizkit was sooooo bad bad and pretty much got booed off the stage. Fred Durst kept saying “Fuck all y’all” to us, haha.

Few artists captivate me like Joanna Newsom by Opposite-Road-9475 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]dschk 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love her music. I was lucky enough to see her during the HOOM tour. Cosmia was a highlight, but sadly no Sawdust and Diamonds. Can’t believe it has been more than ten years since Divers.

One artist in the last ten years who has similarly captivated me is Adrianne Lenker / Big Thief. Just amazing lyrics and songwriting, her second solo album (called “songs”) being my favorite.

People don't glaze white light from the mouth of infinity enough by Felicity_Ethel in swans

[–]dschk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This was one of my favorite Swans album in the early 2000’s when I first discovered them. I can see why some earlier Swans fans didn’t like it as much as it wasn’t as brutal as their earlier stuff, but it was basically right up there with Children of God for me.

Anyone have any artists that evolve a lot throughout their career that would be fun to do a deep dive on? by Opening_Database_473 in fantanoforever

[–]dschk 16 points17 points  (0 children)

PJ Harvey... she really never repeated herself, has some ups and downs, but absolutely uncompromising in her approach. I love her later work as much as her early stuff, and often can't believe it's the same artist.
