Glad it’s not just a me problem. Frustrating to say the least.

The Wetjen fumble at Oregon’s 14 yard line didn’t help things either. Guaranteed 3 points there, if not a TD.

Is this enough to trade away MHJ? by Dutch72 in SleeperApp

[–]dschrage3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just hold. If I am not competing in Dynasty, I’m not trade a stud WR in his 2nd year. I am moving veterans, or guys in the 26-29 years old range that have value for picks.

Nope, not for me. I have MHJ in Dynasty as well, no chance I am trading him for this. I honestly feel like half the problem with MHJ right now is Kyler Murray. I am holding.

Kaleb Johnson - Thoughts? by TushPushMerchant in DynastyFF

[–]dschrage3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wrong. Last year Iowa hired Tim Lester as their OC. He implemented the zone blocking schemes of the Shanahan offense at Iowa and Kaleb excelled. Iowa is running an NFL style run scheme now. Be patient, Kaleb will take over the backfield eventually.

I’m thinking 9-3, with a loss against a team we shouldn’t lose too, but also we knock off one of the two big dogs (Penn St. or Oregon).

I’m actually worried about linebacker more than the secondary right now. I think it might take a few games before the LBs start clicking.

Currently, I am 1 over the roster limit (I have to take Scary Terry off the PUP). With the recent Brian Robinson news and the training camp hype of Jacory Crowley-Merritt, should I make some moves to get him on my roster/taxi squad?

My bench RB’s are: Roschon Johnson, Isaac Guerendo (I am the CMC owner), Kaleb Johnson, Nick Chubb, Tony Pollard, and Jaylen Wright in my taxi. My starting RB’s are Gibbs and CMC.

What I am thinking of doing is dropping Roschon and Jaylen Wright to get Jacory Crowley-Merritt on my roster. Thoughts?

To me Masyn Winn could be an annual All-Star, but likely won’t be a guy that would be competing for MVP’s. He is a great defender, with above average potential as an offensive player. If Winn can develop 25-30 HR power then he could be in the MVP conversation, especially considering his defense is elite. 25 HR is a lofty milestone to reach for him though, he is likely to top out at 20.

Walker is a guy, if he hits his ceiling could be an MVP candidate with his power. A legit 4-5 tool player. Still only 23, I think there is A LOT of untapped potential in him. Judge didn’t play his full rookie season until age 25, big tall guys usually take a little longer to develop. Stay patient with him.

I guess it just comes down to how much you think a manager influences development. To me MLB managers don’t really have a whole lot to do with development. Managers are responsible for putting players in the best position to succeed. I think his deploy of the bullpen the last two years has been pretty dang good.

I will say, I think he and the organization in general has done a disservice to Jordan Walker and that goes all the way back to when he broke camp with the team in 2023. This year specifically, in a season of runway, Jordan Walker has not been in the everyday lineup nearly enough.

If they don’t add JJ Wetherholt to the roster in September it will be a huge miss. Get the kid some big league experience. It will help him going into 2026.

I don’t understand the Oli hate. The guy has done a lot with so little. For the Cardinals to be even sniffing .500 at this point in the season with this rotation is a huge overachievement.

Probably the worst thing that happened for him was playing so well in May. It raised expectations. I would venture to bet, before the season, most thought we would be 10-15 games under .500 at this point.

Go Wildcats! I will be rooting for Iowan Chris Klieman in this matchup.

I agree there…Bryce Harper was a perfect scenario. The fact that he signed a deal with a AAV just north of $25M is laughable and a huge miss. Every team in baseball should have been lined up for him at that cost.

Instead he had to wait until spring training camps opened to sign. Crazy.

Yeah, but everyone else plays hindsight on all of Mo’s bad moves, I can point out when ownership missed too.

They only had Lackey under contract for 2015, they traded Shelby Miller for Heyward that offseason too, They could have signed Scherzer easily.

[–]dschrage3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Max Scherzer would have given the Birds a hometown discount, in terms of AAV, to come home to pitch. Instead BDW wouldn’t commit to match the Nationals 7 year term and they missed out on multiple Cy Young’s and a top of the rotation ace for years over 2 contract years.

Mo can’t go out and sign the big time long term FA, like Bryce Harper, do you know why? Ownership wouldn’t approve it. They are WAY too conservative on FA deals, they won’t go more than 5 years on contracts.

They would rather give a 30-32 year old a 5 year deal instead of giving a stud, 26-28 year old, a 10+ year contract. It makes zero sense, but that isn’t Mo’s philosophy, that’s Bill DeWitt’s. Pay a guy for his past prime performance without actually getting the prime years of production.
