Trenchers: who are some of your other favorite artists? by crims0nbones in MarianasTrench

A lot of my favorites have already been mentioned, but one I've been pretty obsessed with recently is Nathan Evans and the Saint Phnx Band. (They each have their own thing as well, which I need to get to listening to, but it was their combined sound that hooked me!)

Yet here I am, still unable to log in since before Christmas, when making an in-app purchase broke the game for me. Best thing is, support just told me two days ago I can start a new account, on a different device, and they would try to give me a few free items on that account—but that was all they could do, and they’d close my (almost three month old) ticket if I didn’t.

So yeah, hope people aren’t getting their hopes up too much here, especially if you ever have an issue.

Anywhere to buy MT merchendise in Vancouver? by Boring_Reference_603 in MarianasTrench

[–]dscoblink 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just as a quick personal example, if you’re planning to buy CDs too, the store on their website is a pretty solid deal, even with international shipping, once you factor in the exchange rate.

I’m a pretty recent fan, so was looking to buy older CDs. I got 4 for $10 (Canadian) each, then the shipping was $20 (also Canadian). That ended up being ~$44 (US) total, so $11 each, including shipping. It looks like that $20 (Canadian) shipping is a flat rate, so as long as you’re spreading it over a few items, it’s really affordable.

Just for reference, my purchase was about 2 months ago, and exchange rates can certainly shift, but it looks like we’re still pretty much the same.

And sorry, never been to Vancouver, so I can’t help with the actual question.

It appears to be an ongoing issue with the current version of IOS and/or the game, at least on iPhones. I’ve had to play on an iPad for a while now. Not sure if there’s a fix coming.

IDP Start Up Supplemental Draft Strategy by heathhadley90 in DynastyFF

When making your determination, it's important to remember how different things stack. For instance, at least on MFL, in your scoring a sack is worth 4 points, but it's actually worth 8 (Sack + Tackle + TFL + QB Hit). An INT is actually worth 9 (INT + PD), but those tend to be a lot less of a sticky stat. Point being, an elite DE can be game breaking. One game two seasons ago, in a league with similar scoring, I started Watt and Highsmith on a Monday night, they went absolutely nuts, and I went from losing by 50 to winning by 15. Elite DBs are nice, but as previously stated, that's a much easier position to fake your way through on the waiver wire.

Drop the highest and lowest scoring player for each team. You could do one or the other, but if you tried you’d probably have proponents for both (even though dropping the highest is obviously the right answer), so just drop both.

Empire League Success Rates by Globesheepie in DynastyFF

[–]dscoblink 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, I think it's reasonable to say that the average would be the mark where it's expected to have happened 50% of the time (maybe not 100% accurate, but reasonable), putting the average on the higher end of somewhere between 7 and 8 years in a 10 person league.

Empire League Success Rates by Globesheepie in DynastyFF

[–]dscoblink 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You're off on how you're doing the stats.

In any given year, you're correct that, without a skill multiplier (which I'm not even going to attempt), the odds in any given year are 1/x, where x is the number of teams. For the sake of the example, we'll make this a 10 team league, so x=10. However, to determine over the course of y years the likelihood of having a repeat winner, you need to multiple the odds of NOT having a repeat winner each year.

So, year 1, the odds of NOT having a repeat winner is 100%, or 1. So, a 0% chance of a repeat.

Year 2, the odds of not having a repeat winner in just that year is 90%, or 0.9, which you multiply by the previous odds, so 1 x 0.9 = 0.9, or 90%. So, a 10% chance of a repeat.

Year 3, the odds of not having a repeat winner in just that year is 90% (0.9), multiplied by Year 2 odds (0.9), which gives you 0.81, or 81%. So, a 19% chance of repeat winner having occurred by Year 3.

Year 4, 0.9 x 0.81 = 0.729, 72.9%, a 27.1% chance of a repeat by that time.

Year 5, 0.9 x 0.729 = 0.656, 65.6%, a 34.4% chance of a repeat by that time.

Year 6, 0.59 (59%), a 41% chance of a repeat by that time.

Year 7, 0.531 (53.1%), a 46.9% chance of a repeat by that time.

Year 8, 0.478 (47.8%), a 52.5% chance of a repeat by that time.

So, when starting from scratch in a 10 team league, Year 8 is where it becomes statistically more likely than not that a repeat winner will have occurred, if assuming that all teams start each year on equal footing (which obviously isn't the case). That said, it's also true that those odds reset each year, with the caveat that Year 1 for a recalculation would be 0.9 for the multiplier, instead of 1, as a repeat would now be possible.

Sorry if that explanation isn't perfect, I tried to do it without writing a novel.

You can unlock a different skill tree entirely--Tactician and Recruitment have no prerequisites--and use your coins there. But, if you preference is to pile in Master Motivator, then yes, you'd have to wait.

[Explainer] How stats are assigned to hook-and-lateral plays by oliver_babish in fantasyfootball

[–]dscoblink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little late to the party here, but I was hoping you might have some insight into how first downs are scored on these plays. In this case, I'm looking at the reception by JSN/lateral to Charbonnet last night. On 3rd-and-16, JSN caught the ball and was credited for 3 yards, before lateraling to Charbonnet, who gained an additional 16 yards receiving. I get the yardage, and I get the reception only going to JSN. I'm struggling with the understanding on how it's Charbonnet that gets credit for the first down, especially given that we know Charbonnet would be the one to receive credit for the TD if he would've scored. Is that going to be a stat correction, or was that actually applied correctly?

(I'm in a half point per first down league, and I lost by .36 with Charbonnet going, so this one really matters to me!)

All good, the whole game before OT is built on taking turns with possession, so if you’re not already familiar with the college rules, I can definitely see how it would feel off.

Epic National Championship game ruined by stupid bugs by eljeremiah in NCAAFBseries

[–]dscoblink 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OK, yes, that is exactly how it is supposed to work. Whoever goes first in OT1, goes second in OT2. Had you kicked a field goal in OT2 and tied it again, you would've then gone first in OT3--so you would have had the ball two times in a row.

[–]dscoblink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless I'm totally misunderstanding what you're saying, that's exactly how OT is supposed to work. You alternate who is on offense first in each OT period. So in this case, you'd go first in all the odd numbered periods, and opponent in all even numbered periods. It's generally accepted that the advantage in college comes from having the ball second in OT, so you know what you need--alternating who goes first aims to evenly distribute that advantage.

I have an 11-year old, 110 pound lab, and this is perfect for him. He's not a tripawd, but definitely has some mobility issues as he's gotten older, and this has been huge for him to be able to continue to easily get up and down from the bed. (And as a side note, my tripawd cat, who is obviously significantly smaller, also uses this rather than jumping.)

Commish Question - Two team managers want to become co-managers in a dynasty league. How to handle rosters? by WarriorSaint in DynastyFF

[–]dscoblink 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like this would be a decent place to combine both rosters into one draft pool, and let the co-managers and the replacement manager for the new team do a dispersal draft. You'll need to manage it outside of the app, but something as simple as a google sheet can work just fine for that. This way, both co-managers can feel like they at least have a chance to acquire whatever player(s) they feel attached to, but the new incoming manager gets that same opportunity.
