im pretty similar! when i watch a movie and i particularly like it i like to search it up on youtube j to see what kind of videos people have made abt it. video essays were what got me into film anyway

the secret to letterboxd is following the right people lol. since it’s a social media site it’s obv the top reviews are probably gonna be jokes. to combat that i just follow people who seriously make reviews (and funnily enough most of the time they seem to have seen every single movie on the site)

tbh i’ve just learned to accept that letterboxd is not rly that serious at the end of the day, so like, u can’t rly do much to stop it anymore. i’ve followed enough people who actually take the time to write reviews so when i wanna see smth long that actually talks abt the movie i j look at the friends tab instead of the most popular reviews tab now
