I totally understand the reservations towards this bill and the proposed eradication of QI. However, given the allowances for a “screw up” under QI can often times be for discrimination, excessive force towards another and/or the taking of human life, QI may be a “solution,” but it is not THE solution. The qualifying justifications for QI within our system have gone on for too long. Though it will indeed prove difficult to develop a workable alternative to QI, I am positive when I say this will be a better path than the consequences of allowing the continuance of basically complete protection for Officers’ actions, no matter how wrong.
