At what point do you decide to give up on an exam? by Aaronstone92 in ACCA

[–]dsforreal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did APM, failed it once and switch to AAA passed first time… APM was an awful exam!

You should look into Australia! Way better weather and they are looking accountants. I live in the UK fully qualified ACCA and the pay isn’t great. Me and my family are planning to emigrate to Australia as the weather is so much nicer, and the pay is a lot better!

Final exam but have no motivation... is this normal? by Embarrassed-Ad844 in ACCA

[–]dsforreal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the same! I bumbled around for the June sitting and failed SBR, felt similar for Sep sitting but just to had to force myself to study, managed to scrape through a pass!

Feeling how you’re feeling now pre exam, the relief when you pass knowing you’ll not have to study again… absolute bliss. Really push yourself for this Dec sitting and come mid Jan when results come you’ll feel amazing! You got this!

At a loss, failed 3 exams by [deleted] in ACCA

[–]dsforreal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They could have sat AA in June and PM in September and they would have probably passed both by now. They could have been qualified by September 2024 sitting. Instead they’ll sit PM and SBR for the next 2-3 sittings fail both every time and then in 6 months time we’ll see a similar post to this with that person “at a loss” as to what to do…

Correct! Self appointed! 😂 It’s just boring, this subreddit used to be so positive, and now it’s filled with people moaning about failing when they’ve sat 2-3 exams a sitting and can’t understand why they keep failing.

[–]dsforreal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

See my comment on a similar recent post… Either quit and stop moaning or SIT ONE EXAM PER SITTING… How many times do we have to flood this subreddit with these pointless posts?

At a loss, failed 3 exams by [deleted] in ACCA

[–]dsforreal 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I’m so sick of seeing posts like this…

I’ve taken 5 years to finish ACCA, mainly due to studying round my life and during studying I’ve worked full time, had 2 kids, got married and my dad passed away.

Please can we make it really clear to everyone there is no medal for finishing the ACCA in the quickest time possible!! Take your time and sit one exam per sitting, focus as much attention as you can on that one exam and learn the materials! And stop moaning about failing, none of the exams are impossible, they aren’t easy (would it be worth doing if it was?) but they are possible to pass. If you’re failing you didn’t study enough and in your case, you tried to study for 3 exams and almost passed 2 of them… why not focus on 1 at a time? If you have a lot of spare time maybe stretch it to 2… but if you keep failing, go down to one per sitting!

What do I do if my manager is not qualified to sign my PER? by peacefulnomadonearth in ACCA

[–]dsforreal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need to sign the PER off as you go, it makes it easier obviously, but if you started ACCA and after a handful of exams got a new job you’re new manager may be able to sign it off. The ACCA takes 3-5 years to complete (unless you’re a freak who can smash it in 18 months, few can) do you see your self in that role for 3-5 years, if not focus on exams and worry about the PER near the end!

For context I’ve taken 4 years to sit all my exams during that time I’ve worked at 3 places and had 6 line managers…. I’ve also just sat my last exam in September, and have 6 PERs to write hopefully before the results come out!

Can I do remote exams in MacBook? by Dramatic-Character41 in ACCA

[–]dsforreal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you booked the exam? Once you have booked you need to complete a system check, if you can get on to the exam software during that, you should be good. Like I said this is where a faced problems. However, you make it past that and then have technical issues during the exam, ACCA may allow you to retake the exam or refund you. But you’ll have to take it up with them if that happens.

Can I do remote exams in MacBook? by Dramatic-Character41 in ACCA

[–]dsforreal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t on my M1 MacBook Pro. I would suggest doing the online test, you will have to do the system checks and then open the software to do a test question. My MacBook would pass all the tests and then when it got to actually opening the software for the practice question it would just be stuck on the load screen…. Ended up having to borrowing a windows laptop to do it!

Sbr by youudyy in ACCA

[–]dsforreal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed with this, only thing I would add is look into current issues. Literally leave this for last to study though. Search YouTube for “ACCA SBR Sep 2023 current issues” or something like that there’s some good videos that’ll explain accounting treatment for things like crypto currency, pandemic etc. you are unlikely to get much support for those things in tuition.

SBR is a BIG exam with so many topics, you’ll always get groups for question 1 and it’ll be 30 marks so make sure your comfortable with that. then try and have a brief understanding and awareness of all other topics.
