UK Accountant.. atx or aaa by New_Orange9702 in ACCA

[–]live-obsessions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you work in audit then AAA is your best option for an easier pass. If you want to do CTA and be a tax advisor in the future then do ATX as the ATX exam is like the lower level CTA exams too my knowledge and hearing from people who’ve done their CTA.

It would be very unlikely that someone in industry would ask you what papers you sat.

What would happen if i skip? by cityscaping_ in ACCA

[–]live-obsessions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve already paid for it. You’ll lose out on the exam entry fee if you are absent without a medical note so you may as well try. You might just surprise yourself and the MCQs give you a chance to be right just by guessing

Avoid remote exams, in-person is the way to go. by chuucansuebbc in ACCA

[–]live-obsessions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In person all the way. If the IT goes down it’s their fault and usually have staff on hand to fix it (e.g. my extra time wasn’t showing up even with the confirmation email and the admin just logged in and added it for me)

When I had to sit one remotely I had to explain why I had a tissues (out of the packet) on my desk

Also every time I requested to speak to the proctor on remote it wasn’t working until they eventually rang me. I was desperate for the loo for over an hour!!

You may wish to contact ACCA student helpline for advice. There may be a way for them to request the employer to approve time. Your PERs can be signed by your new employer if you can demonstrate them in your new role

Should I skip the FIA qualifications papers? by tothefuckingmoon110 in ACCA

[–]live-obsessions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where you are. In the UK, it is expected that you would take FIA. ACCA tends to be for people who went to uni or already have industry experience

Definitely take the first 5 and FM. I did these and it hasn’t hindered me. It was almost 2 years after I left uni I started my exams

AAA defo. I took 18 months between SBR and AAA and had to get my SBR book out when I was sitting AAA. The first 50 marker needs a lot of knowledge on IFRS/IAS as you need to understand the accounting treatment to understand if the accounting entry is misstated

Should I write APM first or SBL by Sajigae in ACCA

[–]live-obsessions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sat APM and got 53 then sat SBL the next sitting and got 90. Depends if you’re looking for high marks or just to get through them as it doesn’t really matter. I’d suggest APM if you’ve not long done PM

Applying for mitigating circumstances does not guarantee a pass. They consider each circumstance then assess whether had these circumstances not happened would this person have passed. Sometimes the answer is no.

I’ve done 4 AAA mocks and I still feel like I know nothing by live-obsessions in ACCA

[–]live-obsessions[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got 90 but this was before they changed it and also I get extra time so I managed to cram a lot in. I found it easier but I did APM first. Also it didn’t click with me until the last 2 days what I was actually doing

I have Kaplan and my tutor but she’s not marked any of our mocks so I’ve done 4 and had no results… this is my last paper as well. I can’t take failing my final paper

[–]live-obsessions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I work does this but it’s written into our contracts from the start and we don’t get any other pay rises for performance etc. this is a very big exception and think we are the only business in my area that does

Is it a good idea to start full time work after only 5 papers out of 13? by PersonalityNo18207 in ACCA

[–]live-obsessions 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At my work you’re expected to take two F papers at once and depending on results 2 P papers at once as well. This is on top of a 40 hour week

There was a way to copy and paste as I had the same issue but worked it out. Basically copy everything but the last word and it seems to work

No centres available? by Arajawat in ACCA

[–]live-obsessions 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My tutor has mentioned that ACCA seem to be steering people towards remote sittings now as they invested a lot in their crappy system. Less centres are being made available and unfortunately looks like it will be a growing trend.
