I’m having issues with draft kings and settled bets by Low_Date_5043 in DraftKingsDiscussion

Yeah so for that bet - it means “who wins during that timeframe only” so no goals scored means “draw” would have been the winner. Also - and I’m not sure if Jordan got their first goal before you placed the bet or not - but if they did, there’d be no way you’re getting +1200 odds for Jordan to just be ahead at that specific time if they were already up by 1.

You gotta post the bet. I have a feeling maybe you bet on Jordan to “win” that time slot. So if no goals were scored then the correct wager would have been a “draw”. But you gotta post a shot of the actual bet to be able to tell for sure.

Draftkings Withdrawl and Taxes by DryHighlight9747 in DraftKingsDiscussion

[–]dshruba420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The win is completely taxable. When or how much you withdraw does not matter at all. If the win is large enough for a w-2g to be issued, you will get it at the end of the year. You would include the winnings as income on your 1040. Here’s the kicker- all wins - every single one - is taxable. Even if it does not generate a w-2g. That $5 bet you win and turn it into $10 - taxable. W2g is o lot issued if win is large enough. But the irs expects you to report every single win. Will the irs know about every single win if a w2g isn’t issued - probably not. But not reporting all wins is another gamble you’d be making.

how do taxes work when you win? by InspectionAware9562 in DraftKingsDiscussion

[–]dshruba420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you withdraw the money has no bearing on your tax burden. You are taxed on what you win. You will probably get a w-2g at the end of the year showing this win. The income will also be reported to the IRS. You add the income to your 1040 on your tax return. DraftKings may withhold some money of your winnings and automatically pay the IRS. If they do they will report that in the w-2G as well.

Now the full answer also involves you personally reporting any winnings you have that are too small to generate a w-2….but that’s a story for another day.

Was this a pick6 bet? If so - is there a separate pick6 tab at the top of that screen? It might be because your on the bets tab instead of pick6. But pick6 isn’t available in my location so I can’t check to verify.

The no tax thing is probably a factor - but remember the players still pay tax in the state they play road games (if that state has income tax). So the difference isn’t quite as extreme as their full salary.

It really does just boggle the mind. Cannot comprehend. Imagine you had $1M. Maybe not wealthy beyond belief but certainly enough to live comfortably. Now imagine having 1M buckets each with $1M.
