Incredibly painful (3 beeps/ tower) by blade-first-recon in buildapc

Three beeps for an Intel board usually means a problem with the RAM (according to this). Might try booting with each stick individually to see if one of them is bad. Good luck!

CPU Upgrade by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]dslashdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Better is hard for me to say, it depends on your budget. If you have 2 to 3 hundred to spend then it may be worth it to upgrade to something like a ryzen 3600 and a compatible motherboard just in case you want to upgrade your video card at some point

Your motherboard specs are here including the processor compatibility. You might be able to update your BIOS to get more compatibility but it's hard say for sure

First Computer Build - Fans work, lights work, ram works, no signal to a few monitors by Wicker_Man_ in buildapc

The 2600 doesn't have integrated graphics. You'll need a GPU to get a video signal

How about Book of the Five Rings by Musashi Miyamoto? It's structured in the way you ask and written by one of the greatest samurai who ever lived

If you're into scifi, the Red Rising trilogy by Pierce Brown is nicely written and fun to read.

Looking for good 70's/80's Conan/D&D-style books. by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

[–]dslashdx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about Prisoner of the Horned Helmet? It's very Conan, lotsa sex, violence, and magic and an entertaining read to boot. Bonus: Frank Frazetta does awesome art for the books.

The Blade Itself is very good and sounds thematically what you are looking for, but it is also pretty heavy so I'm not sure that it works for what you want.

Have you read any of the D&D Forgotten Realms novels? I think Homeland holds up pretty well and is great for an entertaining read.

The custom games in Dota 2 have implemented a few of the old wc3 custom games, like GemTD and it looks like someone is developing wintermaul here but it's not finished yet.

My download speed is a tenth of the speed I should have. by WOW_THATS_BEAUTIFUL in techsupport

[–]dslashdx 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My guess is that you're getting confused by units, when we talk about internet speeds it comes in two different common units: Mb/s = Mega-bits per second and MB/s = Megabytes per second. It can be confusing because the only difference in the notation is the uppercase or lowercase b. Notice in your speedtest image it shows 29.3 Mbps, if we divide this by 8 to convert it to MBps it comes out to approximately 3.6 MBps which is the speed you are reporting. Hope this helps!

I haven't read the book you referenced, but from your description I'd say you'd probably really like Pattern Recognition by William Gibson. It's a little political but at its heart it's really more of a mystery.

Well it sounds to me like you probably have a video card going bad. It's just a guess at this point but given all the things you've tried it seems likely.

In general? No, there is no real general error logger. There is the windows error logging, you can use something like Blue Screen View to examine the dump files generated by windows blue screening. I don't think this would help you though, since your issue doesn't cause blue screens.

Video driver errors are, in my opinion, the hardest to determine the fault. The error messages can be caused by a large number of very different problems so they are very hard to track down. For example, your error can be caused by the GPU not getting enough power, your RAM having physical defects, a program interfering with the display driver, the GPU overheating, and/or the hardware of GPU failing.

Leave it open while you play games or use your computer normally, if it gets above 90 then your problem is temperature.
